What's new

Port Aventura future plans

^ Yeah, I knew they'd been testing, but in a few weeks time, they could easily theme the tower slightly, that was kind of what I was asking with it. I'm guessing that it's probably gonna be June/July, ready for the influx of high season.

It's going to open next Saturday (May 18th) so that the opening coincides with the first White Night of the season.

I think there will be a Media opening on the 17th though.

Going by PortAventura, the theme park is extensively themed, but the water park lacks, it needs a revamp and theses slides, I'm a little disappointed that they didn't theme this extensively, but then at the end of the day it is just a waterslide, theming doesn't really inhance the over all ride on these speed slides, so I don't really mind, as long as they theme theme a little, I'll be happy.

Since we are two days away from media day, and the expansion will be officially open on Saturday, here is the final result:

Nothing new really. The result looks nice, but nothing out-of-this-world amazing... Once the foliage has grown a bit, I guess it will look more integrated and the metal structures from the towers won't be so visible...

It's 101ft tall.

Yeah, that doesn't look AS bad as I thought, it looks like it'd be more fitted for Auopolis down the road though...

With the very little theming what was added, this has turned out really nicely, the slides look stunning, just what this park need. Some good thrill slide. Very happy with this.

I completely agree to you my friend.. Europe rocks as far as holiday resorts are concerned..!!!!
I had a tour to France last year and I guess French riviera. The Eze in the Cote D' Azure. Just an incredible little hilltop medieval village thats a short drive from Monaco. Cannes, vente chalet megève, are must see and great for kids.

Bit of a crap racing slide, just a plain straight line...why didn't they do a decent one with helixes etc?

Because it cost less. The people who hold the money for Port Aventura don't really care what kind racing slide they get, it's all about the return of investment.

Also, as awesome as that WhizzardTwist in the picture might be, the straight line ones are pretty dope as well.
