Phantasialand's 2011 additions

I've been trying to find out info on what the park are adding this year for the past few months now and it's taken till now for some more info to creep through on the German fansites.

I was aware that a new waveswinger and dark ride plus an overhaul of the German area of the park were due at some point this year, looks like outdoor construction will be complete by opening next week. Information on the dark ride is still impossible to come by, I still can't believe there is no info on this new ride at all. Rumours suggest it'll be opening in June, they say the same for the waveswinger but it's already sitting in its final resting place so I reckon that'll open next week with the park.

What I didn't know until just now was that they are also getting a pair of free-fall towers. Family ones so nothing too high but they look heavily themed amongst the Michael Jackson coaster. They don't seem to mention when that'll open either.

EDIT: Just found an update on the official website. Mentions the ride will have 3D effects and it features lots of mice at bakeries.

The dark ride is a 3D theater called Maus au Chocolat. It has it's own facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/mausauchocolat?sk=app_161941250527523 & here is the official page on the park's website: http://www.phantasialand.de/ger/Park/Neuheiten-2011/Maus-au-Chocolat.
Although the waveswinger has already been fully assembled & testing has begun, it's still not scheduled to open until later this year.
As far as the family drop towers, the park has made no announcements so far.

Edit: I see you found some info while I was writing this.

Their new dark ride looks awesome. It's such a crazy story line. It's the type of ride that I would absolutely love. Let's hope they have scent machines throughout, now, that would be lush.

There is no way it's a 3D theatre mainly due to the fact they already have a 4D theatre next door and a 3D simulator on the other side :P

I reckon it could possibly be something like Spiderman in the way you wear 3D glasses on a normal dark ride. To be honest no one knows what sort of ride it is and the building for it is HUGE. I did read on that forum that some think it could be a pandoras box which would be cool because it would be the first and I'd love to see what they're like.

Just found some more information on this ride:

- Made by dutch manufacturer ETF

- It's similar to Toy Story Midway Mania, in the way that you'll be in cars shooting targets

- Already mentioned 3D

- World first: fully controlable cars, forwards, reverse, left, right, on a track though (I believe)

- The story is along the lines of a man who owns a bakery and mice are eating his cakes, so you're on a mission with him to try get them out the bakery.

Cheers for that info. Sounds like it'll be great fun then, shooting chocolate at little mice in a kitchen and you can go in whatever direction you like. Maybe it'll be several huge rooms, you have an allocated amount of time in each room before being moved on into the next one?

It does sound fun indeed. Not sure about that ^ but with this whole reverse thing can you imagine little kids holding down reverse clogging the ride up? (Thats if it is on a track though)

Well now the park is open the drop towers and waveswinger are now officially open. Some cool German peeps have posted videos on youtube of how cool they look.

I think they both look great. Simple family attractions but with some great details. I love how the fountains react to how the ride is moving round, such a cool effect. Shame it's not like Monkey Swinger at Chessie where you get wet. I think the two drop towers look unique and fun too, a funky little addition.

Oh and the latest rumour is that the dark ride is due to open in June, possibly.

*bump*

Here's an on/offride video of the 4D dark ride shooter thing, Maus au Chocolat...

Amazing attention to detail, looks like fun! The stack of wobbly cheese is my favourite part.

Wow, is this true 4D dark ride?! This is really very interesting. Can't wait to try this out! Hope I could have an early vacation!
