Perilous Plunge At Knotts Berry Farm to Close Sept 3rd

Re: RE: Perilous Plunge At Knotts Berry Farm to Close Sept 3

Topper/iron horse is in the timetable. You have to look at it this way, dca just opened carsland, ush transformers and soon to be harry potter, sfmm is getting a huge coaster, and sea world got manta. Simply put, remarketing GhostRider with topper track won't help them compete against those other parks, they need the hyper/giga that's been rumored for years. From what I have heard, GhostRider will start getting topper late next year and be finished by 2014.

Ghost rider needs to be torn down as do most things in that park, it's one of the worst parks I have ever been to.

Quite frankly, I'm glad it's going away. Only ridden twice, both times weren't worth waiting for. There's plenty of space around there to fit something big in, perhaps a giga, but I wouldn't hold out on that one.

Don't like it? Don't go, don't whine about it either. Simple as that. Out of sight, out of mind. It's evident you don't care about the park, why even get involved with a topic based upon it? The intelligence associated with some individuals is shockingly in short supply...

Woah woah. Chill out. Marc's allowed his opinion. It was a sarcy post, why do I get the feeling you're a bit of a fanboy? :p

Yes Mr, DADT

See, I don't feel strongly enough to get involved in this sillyness, but I don't think Knott's deserves as much bile as it gets. Sure, it's nowhere even close to being the greatest park I've ever visited, but to say it's one of the worst I've ever been to... I'd definitely be lying if I said that.

Tomahawk makes a very interesting point though. A refurb of Ghostrider won't stand up against the recent investments elsewhere in LA. whilst, to us lot, a Hyper might not do the trick either, it will be enough to grab a few headlines, and make a few of the GP choose Knott's for their annual park trip over one of their competitors. When put like that, a Hyper in 2013 followed by a Ghostrider refurb in 2014 sounds like a sensible plan.

I do think a big coaster would do well there as it needs something.

I think we just went on a bad day, the park was dead apart from a load of school kids. The park just had a bad atmosphere and only enjoyed one ride. I think we were done in about 3 hours.

Silver Bullet is not as bad as people make out, that was one we actually re rode.

It was the back of the park I did not like as it was just bland and I hope they improve it when they get this new ride.

The problem is after doing sfmm, universal and Disney you arrive here and it just offers nothing that the other parks in the area do. But yes I would go back and give it another try, I just meant of all the USA parks I've been to it was the worst and I was shocked as I was looking forward to it.

Ghost Rider needed that work 3 years ago its the roughest coaster I have ever been on.

It needs something that really isnt out there. If they were to do a Hyper, it would need to be at or above Goliaths at SFMM. I wouldnt actually mind seeing something akin to Skyrush, Bizarro or I305 there as it would give them something that the other parks dont readily have (to my knowledge, Ive yet to go), an airtime machine.

Much agreed. I think that a simple out and back B&M with air wouldn't do it, especially with the g's that Goliath pulls. An Intamin along the lines of the 3 you mentioned are would be by far the best for Knotts.

Lol, take your own advice? Don't like the ride, don't come into a topic about it! What a cun...

How can you form an opinion if you "don't go" in the first place? Maybe if you left California for a day or two, you'd have more of an appreciation for an experienced opinion...

Except my "advice" wasn't entirely about not liking the ride, had you read the text rather than skimming you would have realized that ;)

Essentially this:

I imagine the ride has been recycled to make Prius bodies or something.
