PA considering the removal of Furius Baco?

There are several rumours going around that PA want to do away with Furius Baco. The park are investigating possible(?) health problems and complaints from riders.

Assuming this to be true, it'll be interesting to see what PA use as a replacement attraction.

I suppose it's a possibility, it may be costing the park far more than is worth in repairs and if rider feedback has been consistently poor then they may consider removing it. I just can't see them doing so so shortly after installation without at the very least pursuing some fees back from Intamin if they were to have to remove the ride early.

I actually really enjoyed Baco when I rode it so I think it would be a shame if it was removed.

However I know a lot of enthusiasts find it uncomfortable but the general public seemed to love it. Can't see any reason for it to go other than cost/maintenance problems.

Surely the coaster would be deemed as a complete disaster if it was removed after only 6 years of operation?

Especially as its a prototype, would definitely be the death of the Intamin wing rider.

And there were so many just ready to start being constructed too ;)

I can't imagine that it's an easy sell to be honest and the fact that the coaster is horrid doesn't make it a worthwhile heavy investment from any park.

The fact it was utter bollocks was the death of the Wing Rider concept, not if it gets removed because of it.

As for compensation? I suspect that as long as it met the design specification and maintenance costs, PA can't do anything about it. Sometimes you buy a turkey, but that doesn't mean you can go and demand your money back. The coaster has operated pretty much constantly since it opened without any unusual amounts of downtime - so it runs and "tough".

I doubt it'll be removed. Like, really doubt.

It gets the same type of wear and tear as other coasters (hairlines in the track / hairlines on train weld joints / wheels / restraints / everything else) It doesn't make it any different to other coasters. It probably does cost more to maintain this type of ride, and more will go wrong with it, but it doesn't deem it unsafe for it to be removed. It'll just get sorted.

Did you know that the reason for one of Swarms train to remain out of action for a month was because of an unusual amount of hairline fractures? No, well you do now. What did Thorpe Park do? They sorted it.

Remember the restraint snap with Furius Baco? This happened on Stealth too, only it was out of operational hours. Its not an uncommon problem with this seat / restraint type.

So where the rumours have come from, I'd like to know because everything that is wrong with Furius Baco, are all common attributes to owning an overly-intense roller coaster.

Apparently this is the Spanish equivalent of April Fool's Day, and this is a fansite's joke. :)

I was getting all excited for a moment there, I rode it in September and it was absolute horid.

The launch was forceful and very enjoyable and I was in enjoying it antill the first turn.

Swap the winged trains for normal intamin launch trains and I would imagine it would ride a lot nicer and less bouncy.

I can confirm this was a "Dia de los Inocentess" joke (Spanish equivalent to "April's Fools Day"). There is NO way that PA are getting rid of Baco (just now) since it's probably the most popular roller coaster (tied with Shambhala).

Although it is a very temperamental ride, the GP seem to absolutely love it. I would be really sad to loose such a unique ride (even if sometimes beats the crap out of you!)...

LOL, this happened last year if I remember correctly... weren't Terra Mitica supposed to be building a mini B&M Hyper?

All the park need to do is scrap the trains and make intamin make new trains what don't bounce all over the place, then the ride would be very enjoyable.

Yes, it was something like the first B&M kiddie coaster. It happens the other way round when English-speaking countries write their jokes on April's Fools Day.

I agree. Baco could be top 10 material (at least for those who love intense rides) if the trains didn't bounce and shake so much. But isn't the ride vehicle supposed to be a crazy prototype tested by dummies and launched by a monkey? Then, the train kind of suits the theme to the ride being so weak and poorly designed! :p
