ORP/ORVs

Do you buy them? What do you think of them? Discuss here because someone is bound to get annoyed with it being discussed in The Swarm construction topic any minute now ;]

Heh, good point. I personally don't, because the value they give me is less than the price they cost. If parks could add value to the service perhaps by making it cheaper, or by making it more flexible by giving me a digital copy, I'd be much more inclined to do so.

In most cases no, take Merlin parks for instance, there is no way I am going to pay seven Pounds for a photo or however much it is for the videos. This is mainly because I begrudge paying that sort of money on a ride that I can ride 63 times a year, its just not worth it.
However, if I went to a park abroad that I know I may not visit again for a fair time and the price was right then I could be persuaded as the ride would be more memorable.
But UK parks is mostly a no.

I occasionally buy ORPs, never even bothered looking at the ORVs when I get off rides.

When I hopefully head to the States, I think I'll be buying a lot of ORPs as they'll be on coasters I've been wanting to go on for years which I'll probably never get to go on again, or at least for many, many years. It'll also help me remember the trip more as the sentimental value of the pictures will shine through.

But ORVs seem pointless to me as I'm never **** scared on anything.

Sometimes.

I do quite like them, I got a few in America on the various trips, and like, one for my first ride on Th13teen and stuff (God knows why, whatever).

ORVs are worse than cancer.

I don't bother with on ride photos. At CF-Lives, I always like looking at the ORPs taken by people not riding. You can't anticipate them, so they always look more natural and spontaneous.

I used to buy them like all the while for some reason. I've got about 4 of Stealth?!

But I haven't bought one in years now. Thirteen and Saw wasn't really worth it to be honest. Though in saying that, I'm sure I would have bought one on Anubis if they were working.

Like most people, I'll probably get them when I go somewhere I'm unlikely to return to so soon, and it depends on how amazing the coaster is. I'm sure I'll get one for Ka and Toro etc.

But yeah, in general, really not fussed about them anymore. Lets face it, most people only buy them to 'show off' what they've been on, and there's not much us goons wont go on, is there?

I sometimes buy them. If the option to get them sent to my Email is there, I'd do that instead.

I've also bought a DVD, of GOliath at Walibi. Solely for the fact the video was hilarious.

Nah.

I've got a few (somewhere, **** knows what box they're in) that were ridiculously cheap (Crystal Wings, G5 and a few more), but I generally don't bother with them at all.

I don't bother with souvenirs at all really, park-related or not. I just don't need to be throwing money away just to accumulate crap.

I buy at least one ORP when I visit a park. One time I re-rode SB numerous times just to get a good photo.

I did buy an ORV one time but I hate how they splice in utterly useless content all around.

I hardly ever buy these things as I think they are very overpriced. I make an exception if the people I'm with are doing something ridiculously funny

I buy them as souvenirs I think they make a nice collection and are much better than like, a mug or something. Never buy videos though.

I think with regards to Colossus comment I don't think people realise just how lucky they are to be able to spend the time & money to get to parks so often that you would be riding a coaster 60-odd times a year.

I agree that if I went to Flamingo Land for example I wouldn't pay £6 or £7 for an ORP however if I went to Thorpe Park with it being so rare that I visit I'm more likely to pay £6-8 for a decent ORP as its a memory I won't get to recreate so often.

For enthusiasts the price is totally not worth it, unless the ORP is an absolute blinder - but to your average Joe who visits once a year or bi-annually then yes, they're priced right.

Last ORP I bought was Furius Baco I think with Martyn!

ORV's are class, I never stop laughing at me and Sam on Kumali (with me drooling like a spaz on the helix!)

Even before I was an enthusiast though, I thought they were overpriced.
I'll buy endless souvenirs (not just at parks), but there's just something about paying £5-6 for one photo - I've always thought it a bit of a con!

^^ I agree, I am fortunate enough to live close enough to be able to get to most parks in the country in a day. (minus Blackpool and Oakwood) Hopefully going to get down to Oakwood this year, and if I do, ill probably get a ORP because it will be a rare trip. Same as if you get down to Thorpe, I appreciate as a rare trip, you might treat yourself as it would be more of a memory as opposed to being something taken for granted. The last ORP I brought was at Flamingoland.
I normally buy pens and mugs from parks, there`s nothing like freaking people out at work with your syringe pen ha.
