There's that old looking crane thing in the background. Always used to think that was Loggers. Is it still there?

Yeah there's a big gravel pit that I think they are digging out next door. You can still see all the machinery from the M3

^That old gravel pit stopped operation years back. I believe Merlin also own that land now too. (There are also the same cranes over to the side of the car park)

^ Well, CEMEX (owners of RMC Group - creators of Thorpe Park) now have their quarry to the North-West of the park, with their offices in the old manor next to the farm.

Right, sorry to hijack this topic, but It's now 2am, I've got work in the morning, and I'm still awake. Why? Because I've spent the last hour trying to find a half decent old photo of the inside of what is now Burger King at Chessie. At the time it was called 'Black Forest Chateau' and had this awesome themed show thing inside with like a big organ and stuff. I kinda want to prove to myself that I'm not going mental and imagining it. Therefore, if anyone can find a decent picture, I'll love you forever.

This is the best I can find so far: http://themeuk.net/chessington/Guide_Bo ... 0/pg16.jpg

Help

PS. Just realised that this was actually probably before a lot of you were even born. FML

PPS. Peep and I have also discovered this evening that pretty much any combination of google image search terms used whilst on the hunt for this just returns page after page of CFers! haha

I wish there was a picture it was so good in there.

There are probably very few pictures as it was so dark in there.

I *think* I remember that, vaguely, but I have a very clear memory of it being McDonalds ;]

Old Chessington <3

Nah, before my time!

Does anyone remember Carousel Kingdom at Thorpe? It was in what is now Amity Boardwalk Games.

I *might* have been on this carousel once or twice before it closed in 2000, but I would only have been a toddler at the time.

I thought Hurri pretty well confirmed it as Adventure Island at Southend (unless you have any other contrary evidence?)

I remember the carousel, it was quite beautiful, indoors with all the lights on.

Think I just about remember the organ thing, but yeah, my only clear memories are of McDonalds

It is Southend, NOT Margate. If you look on the right of the picture you can see the Ferriss Wheel that is still in the park and the astronaut that was part of Space Chase. He is also still part of the park but now looks completely different and a bit like 'Elvis'. Also, if you look the left of the picture, you can just about see the mast of the Ship walkthrough attraction and the Dodgems, which are also, in the same place.

Also, I remember that Carousel TPRich. I remember riding it when I was a kid :)
