What's new

North Korean Theme Parks

I don't think it looks THAT bad either actually.

I found the rules about electricity and so on most intriquing though...

Good stuff Ian, but definitely not on my to-do list.

I think it would be interesting to visit these places, just for the culture and 'shock' factor. Whilst they don't look anything special, they would be a new experience and hold an atmosphere never really seen elsewhere.

Their slides look awsome!

It must awful in winter though with no electricity after dusk

^ Kings Island actually has a similar set of slides.

Wow! I'd definitely go just to experience that world - it's chilling :?
How on earth did those people get let across the border though?

North Korea always intrigues me, especially Pyongyang (always sounds like a catapult going off), very secretive country.

At least they are trying to make their people happy, well the select few.

I think that "set" of sides is quite a common like, "tower", because the water park in Malaga has the EXACT same things.

And a Volare, ugh.

One thing about North Korea that always strikes me as odd is that they allowed Google Earth to do the country. I guess OPRESSION can't be seen from space. And the people there can't even see it! It's amazing that as "civilised" as our World is, areas like this do still exist. I'd love to go.

I know the only way to get a visa into N. Korea is through the Chinese government. It's complicated, to be sure. Lisa Scheinin got all the way to China on her first attempt before the N. Korean government denied her visa and she had to come back.

Who?

I know someone who went and said that the whole experience was just beyond creepy. Bugs (wire tapping ones) in hotle rooms, having to lay flowers by pictures of the great leader whenever you saw one, giving your tour guide a carton of cigs are a bribe each day. Verrrrry odd.

Ben: I hardly think that North Korea are in the position to say to google "no". Google doesn't even exist in the country!

Lisa Scheinin is/was the A.C.E. census director for many years.

By all accounts, she's been on more coasters than pretty much every coaster enthusiast, including George Greenway, Richard Bannister, Martin Valt, Robb Alvey, etc.

It all depends on where you are from, US citizens have really tough time to get in, where as other nationality's may have an easier time. It all comes down to if your country is on the North Korean good or bad list :D

I've read the trip report that Lisa Scheinin wrote about the trip in the ECC magazine and I have to say that it would be interesting to say the least to go there. But it seems like this guy got a few more credits than her though...
