Simply, do you think it was wrong or right for the BBC to allow BNP leader Nick Griffin to have a seat on Question Time.

(Please don't let this descend into a political squabble. Leave that to the MPs.

I guess it's fine.

Sure, the BNP suck blah blah blah, but they obviously DO have followers, and to make an effort to blatently exclude them just because we don't agree with them kinda makes us sink to their level.

The only way to beat people like that is to let them have their say, then ignore it. Not letting them say what they want to, or participate in things, just adds fuel to the fire and in the end will give them more publicity!

Of course! There are only two parts of BNP that I agree with - Immigration caps to maintain British values and not teaching of gay love in primary schools. Sex, (gay, straight, animal, other), shouldn't be taught to primary school kids imo. Let kids have a bloody childhood!

It was right for the BBC to allow Nick Griffin on the show. Hopefully it'll shake the current establishment enough to get tough on immigration - but not to the extreme way that the BNP proposes.

I thought they were right to do it. Freedom of speech and all that.

It's sparked debate and reignited the immigration debate again, just months away from the general election. like Ian I agree with only those two points that the Bnp made last night, children do not have the moral understanding in primary school as they do before they leave for secondary school.

Like Jake said if they were not allowed it wouldve just stirred it all up where as now he got exposed as slipping up under pressure.

Same as the above really, not a great deal more to add.

Did anyone else thing Nick looked very angry, but was really straining to hold it all back in? I guess sitting so close to "one of those" probably did it ;)

Lol, did you see the way he was engaging with her? Pats on the back, laughs and so forth. So fake!

Yes. It has shown the nation what a nazi Nick Griffin really is, and hopefully they will lose votes over this. Some of his views are just just shocking, and all he did was contradict himself throughout the whole show.

Yes, he should have been on.

I've deleted the entire thing from my memory. The BBC ran it poorly, Mr Dimbleby wimped out of being a proper chairman, and Nick Griffin is a rubbish speaker. It was farcical.

Nazi = National Socialist Party, which was on the left.

BNP = Far right.

So, no.

Ok, Ben, you're one doing all the uni crap so correct me if I'm wrong, but the Nazi party were, at the start of it, created on the left wing to get elected. It's only when they came to power did they start to move toward the right. Which, if what Jack Straw alleges is true (although I don't believe anything a New Liebour minister say), that's exactly what the BNP are trying to do. It's only because we can recognise fascism "thanks" to Hitler, that we are certain the BNP are right wing. And the fact that it's bloody obvious.

The Nazi Party started as the Workers Party and were left wing, but when the charismatic Hitler came in her adopted the clever idea of National Socialism which combined left and right so they could get more supporters, Hitler himself was right wing, they tried to sway from left wing fearing communism and liberalists. They got into the reichstag through this clever wording of the National Socialist Party aka Nazi Party.

Well, it's true the Nazi party did start totally left wing, and then moved towards the centre so they went "right", but they were still a "left of the centre" party.

This little diagram shows it -

Ideology in those years even within one party is enough to write a book on (I'm typing this in our library surrounded by them ;)), but, basically, the BNP are nasty, but they're not exactly Nazi. Nazism was a breed and mix of ideologies all of its own.

Well fnarr fnarr and all that. Cassette boy strikes again:

Oh, for some stupid reason I clicked on no when I meant to click on yes. Urgh, I failz.

^That was excellent.

I think it was right of the BBC to let him on Question Time. All the protesters outside were stupid though, clearly them trying to stop it gave him even more press and everyone knows that any press (whether good or bad) is good for whoever it's about.

I'm just watching it now cause I don't have a tele.

But, it would have been SO much more amazing if the panel hadn't been all idiots too.

EXCEPT Bonnie Greer. I love that woman. She straightens out all their dumb historical inaccuracies so well <3

Bonnie Greer was my least favourite on the entire panel. I think that some of her points were not at all relevant. I'm NOT saying that what she said at times was incorrect, just so out of context that it did not add anything to the debate.

He is a politician, BBC cannot show political bias.

They clearly did though, I sat in the audience for the show in Leeds, 2005, just after the general election, and we were told that we had to submit questions that cover a current, and general theme, that don't specifically target one panel member.

Bam, fifty seconds in and that's out of the window.

Yes. It has shown the nation what a nazi Nick Griffin really is

How, exactly?

Yes, it was right for the BBC to let him go on.

He has a right to voice his opinions, however ****ing stupid they are.

I think it's completely backfired on him though. Even more people now understand how much of a twat he is.

At least with the BNP we know we're keeping all the thick, racist ****s in one place. Think about it, we know where they all are. It's like a crèche, all of them penned in, give them some crayons and they're so dense they'll be satisfied for hours.

I'm just glad he went on and made so much of an arse out of himself.

It was right for him to be on, no matter who he is, he is an MEP, so had a right to be on.

It has pretty much backfired on him. It is even more clear he is a disgusting cock and a disgrace to humanity.
