New "World's Tallest/Fastest" for China?

I just saw this on RCDB. The Wanda group are set to open another new park in 2016, in Wuxi, China.

According to their press release, the park will open with the "world's tallest" (492 feet) and fastest (124mph) roller coaster. Clearly, the "fastest" label is inaccurate, as there are a couple of coasters that are already faster. The "tallest" also doesn't take into consideration that new thing in Florida. I haven't dug them up yet, but apparently the park's press release shows an Intamin style accelerator with a top hat and a vertical loop.

Surely a 492 foot top hat would need to be faster than 124mph considering that Kingda Ka quite a bit shorter and only just makes it over at 128mph? It all seems a bit "off" to me at the moment.

The park's second coaster is reportedly the world's tallest wing coaster with an eagle train design. This seems a lot more plausible.

Intriguing.

I wish they produced decent concept art for that wing coaster.

Technically, they could achieve bigger heights with a low launch speed by, say, launching at a sharper incline than usual, or have the bottom of the drop off the top hat be the lowest point of the track.

Still, I think it rather comes down to the use of approximate measures. Citing numbers such as "492 feet" and "128" mph makes it sound like it's all planned to detail, with these exact numbers coming out in the end, but keep in mind that the press release used Metric units. The actual cited numbers were "150 metres" and "200 km/h", respectively. In other words, rough estimates of the sort you throw around in the pre-design phase.

We had a similar incident a couple of years ago, when somebody thought Formula Rossa was being cloned. A new coaster proposed for a Chinese park had the exact same length figure as Rossa on RCDB, to the inch actually, and surely so specific numbers being identical couldn't be a coincidence?

Turned out that RCDB had put the length of both as "2000 metres". It was just that the rough approximation didn't translate well to Imperial units.

Here's a screenshot from Roomraider's post of the looping accelerator:

Please god just build everything that is conceptually rendered with this park.

The looping and helix look way too small considering how big the drop is. Would probably be trimmed to death.

Haha yeah I chatted to Duane about this the other day. we were trying to pin down and sort out all the Wanda coasters that theyve announced and I sent him the stats from the press releases over hence why it only just went up.

As usual the news probably needs a pinch of salt. I'd ignore the model though. All their models are a bit mad. Apparently the model actually works so they probably just wanted a layout that would run.

There's a better image of it in the whole park model here.

The rough idea might be right though, Concept art has a similar ride on it.

This smaller model also has a version without the loop

As with all Wanda parks all will be revealed when they actually build anything. :)

Such a shame I'll never ride it because it's in Asia.
Ben your so funny.
Unlike you some people don't have the time or money to travel to places like China. Your nothing but rude.

People have the time and money because of having the ambition and/or work ethic to get to a position that allows them to travel. It doesn't just happen.

Besides, there are plenty of people who could afford to go, but won't because they lack any ambition to go anywhere other than the major UK parks, Florida and Port Aventura. That's the point Ben was making.

This. 100% this. I know I'm one of those people that has only done UK parks, Florida and Port Aventura but purely because I haven't had the opportunity to go anywhere else really. Next year I can't wait to do more. If you want to see places and travel places you can, it's not that hard. I can't wait to see more of the world.

I'm pretty sure he was trolling as a statement similar to that was made in a different thread a while ago.

^ Actually, you don't have a clue what you're saying. He has a perfectly valid opinion and point that this topic won't go anywhere and the comments will hold the usual 'shame I'm not going to ride it' bollocks that most of the other Asian topics do.

In terms of the 125mph limit, could it not have the LSM launch that ends further up the ascent curve of the top hat? Like Neferseken at Vialand?

Congratulations, you understood it! Let me break it down;

- Some people have previously posted they couldn't possibly ride certain coasters because they're in Asia.
- In reality, anyone can go to these places if they want to and work towards it. Anyone that thinks otherwise is basic and has no ambition.
- I called out these basic bitches by sarcastically repeating the dumb stuff they said to highlight how dumb they are.

If you need any further help with my sarcasm, please let me know and I'll be happy to explain it.

Yeah, I get **** off with the "some people can't afford/have time to travel to ride these coasters" replies when you call someone out for being basic.

I'm a **** moron that scraped through school with 1 C! But I work my tits off to earn as much as I do, to travel as much as I do. I hate people complaining that it isn't financially viable for them to travel to these places. Anything within reason can be achieved, apart from Vietnam, I won't go there. It's far too dangerous.

Re: New "World's Tallest/Fastest" for China?

Some people can't afford and no amount of ambition or drive will take them to China.

But what I can't stand is people who feel the need to constantly state they won't ever get to go.

Like, OK? Lol. Why should I care.

But can we stop. We don't need to attack everyone every day. Especially when no one even made such a comment and you're carrying a meme over into any new Asia topic because, occasionally, someone young and naive says what shame it is that they won't ever visit Asia. Stop.

But, you're just... wrong.

Everyone on here could afford to go if they wanted to and saved appropriately, everyone. Anyone that comes on here to cry about not being able to go is being a whiny little bitch and needs to realise noone is going to make it happen for them except themselves. And if they are standing in their own way, they have noone else to blame.

Any new topic? I've said it once Joey, calm down.

I think if we look back at the topic I'm not actually the one that started specifically attacking people, that was BasicOwenRita when he called me rude for making a joke. It's pansies like you lot that are why all the members with anything about them are leaving!
