What's new

New Space Mountain Disneyland Paris

But we knew that's all they were doing? Not sure what else you expected?

It's a big ol building and to clean it all up and fix lots of things must have taken quite some effort. Don't forget this is all just to make the next stage a lot easier to make changes.

I don't understand the lack of new trains this time but I suppose it makes the slight rebrand a bit more obvious after the next stage of work.

Also, yeah, no idea why they didn't fix the recoil effect, must be a reason.

I guess just to have such a major attraction down for 6 months just to get back basically what was already there with an added single rider queue is a bit of a disappointment. I expected something a little more that we didn't know about, like some new effects or something..

As for the recoil I read from the InsideDLParis twitter account (think he is an employee) that they can easily fix the effect but they cannot maintain it so they just leave it.

Pretty bad for a Disney park and surely technology must have advanced since 1995 to put in a completely new mechanism to get that effect working? It does look so good when it does work which I don't think has happened since Mission 2 was originally launched.

Here's hoping in 2017 we get a modernised De la terre a la lune then I would be happy. Could be amazing as the Walt Disney Company should completely own the park by then.

"Cannot maintain" En Anglais: "not worth the continued expense for an audience who don't give a ****." And in fairness, I agree. What's the point?

French Press release
The trains will be the Vekoma MK1212 type - (the same ones found on Efteling's Python) and the ride should be open April 8th

Cool that they're using the Battle of Jakku, of which we see the remnants in Star Wars VII.

Lots of peeps are angry that this and Star Tours opens after their Star Wars event which I'm finding rather amusing (so if you love non-goon outrage, check out the park's Facebook page).

The image of the new trains is a bit bland, hoping it looks better in person. I'm just excited for new effects and audio that works.

^TBF, it is a bit weird having a Star Wars event and not opening your Star Wars rides for it xD

I know Season of the Force is a Studios thing but if you're going to go for the Star Wars even you're going to be a bit naffed off when the Star Wars rides open a few weeks later.

That is a weird timing for them to do I can totally understand why that's annoyed people.

I dislike standard Vekoma restraints as much as the next person, but if these vests are going to be like Python's at Efteling, I found them restrictive and bulky. Are there any better examples of those?

I'm not hugely bothered by Star Wars, but will be interested to see what they do with it. I was actually quite a fan of SM:M2 (still in my top 20), so I hope it keeps the feeling of disorientation.

Oh yeah, totally. It was more the reactions, for example - "expect a sternly worded email in the morning". Like, what's that going to do? I suppose they might get a discount for a return later in the year?

Does anyone know if the re-theming will be there to stay? I kind of thought it would be just for the Star Wars event, but seeing that it'll be open after the event is done, I am somewhat annoyed by that. DLRP and especially Space Mountain have a special place in my heart for me, since I always wanted to go there as a kid. I remember seeing ads for Space Mountain on a VHS I owed, so when I actually got the chance to ride SM it was an amazing experience for me!
Not helping that I'm generally not a huge fan of Star Wars to begin with, but it's kind of annoying Star Wars is going to take over Tomorrowland, one attraction at a time. :(

I'm really glad to see the back of the "Mission 2" theme. Always thought it was a bit soulless.

I'm not expecting the Star Wars overlay to be as good as the original De la Terre à la Lune theme but I reckon it could bring a bit of life back to the attraction. New trains can only be an improvement and I'm really hoping they make the inside of the mountain visible from the queue again.

Just hoping they don't bother putting in too many special effects because DLP won't maintain them.

I'm really not a huge fan of the trains, but like everyone else is saying - what's the point in theming the trains twice for when Hyperspace Mountain ends?

Why do the on-ride photos still say Mission 2?

Why do the trains fit the De La Terre theme better than Star Wars?

But, cool.

I hope that is a sing that the Star Wars theme isn't going to stay for too long. I think just adapting from a movie with grey, boring starships is even more soulless than the funky colorful space theme before.

Okay that looks so much like the original theme, I am sure the Hyperspace thing won't last long, because that looks 0% like Starwars, more like Jules Verne or however that guy is called, especially because of that sun.

Part of me wonders if it looks non-Star Wars like because it has been in development longer than Hyperspace Mountain. I think they look interesting, look forward to seeing them in person at some point this year.

I'm not sure why people were expecting custom, Star Wars trains for a temporary overlay.

Those trains give me hope of the re-theme just being a temporary thing! They look fab otherwise! :D
