What's new

New attractions at Paultons Park

So much going on in this thread - dark rides, water rides, coasters - could somebody summarise what is and what isn't actually happening at Paulton's cos I really haven't been keeping up.
Ghostly Manor 2025, yes?
Coaster 2026, or is this still just a rumour?
And the water ride - just a revamp of that crappy little flume or something completely new? And when?
Sorry for being dumb, but I'm afraid I am a bit lost here. 🤷‍♂️

In summary, this is what's going on at the moment.

Raging River Log Flume is getting moved on from the park after being closed for the rest of the 2024 season not long after Splash Lagoon opened.

Go Karts closed at the beginning of September.

Dragon Roundabout (Seastorm style) has left the park and has been seen in parts at Funland Hayling Island ready to be assembled there.

Seal Falls and Digger Ride are likely to leave the park for this development.

Paultons Park are working on a Vikings themed area for 2026 which will include the Cobra, Magma and Edge areas along with the surrounding areas.

There is a teaser for an attraction that will go upside down due to a logo going upside down on the teaser trailer shown at the SuperFans event. It is heavily speculated to be a coaster in a similar vein to Mandrill Mayhem.

There is heavy speculation about some form of larger water ride coming to the park to replace Raging River due to the ride's sudden closure, a desire for a water ride and the theme of the area.

Ghostly Manor is a Mack Gameplay Theatre due to open in the old 4D cinema building in 2025.

Paultons Park have stated at the SuperFans event that they are looking to grow the park to cater for all ages and grow with their current audience. This is not too dissimilar to the paths taken by the likes of Plopsaland and Toverland over in Europe.

Good answer, thanks man, that clears a lot of things up. I hadn't even realised that Splash Lagoon and Raging River were two separate rides, I thought that they'd just revamped Raging River. 🤦‍♂️

You're welcome 😁 The difference between Raging River and Splash Lagoon is like Chessington with Tiger Rock and River Rafts.

Splash Lagoon is exactly the same model as River Rafts.

It's probably worth mentioning that the area fenced off for viking construction is huge so will be significantly more than just a cobra retheme
Definitely agree that there is sizeable land in the surrounding area with huge potential for something substantial ☺️

Looks like no real construction updates are possible right now, but this is just to say that Raging River has been fully removed. Two clear areas are now forming - one east of Cobra and one west of it. More likely than ever we'll get a water ride and a coaster at once, I think:

I’ve thought about Paultons adding one of those also. Lawrence Mancey did say it would “surprise” people so I think it’ll be more thrilling then we are currently thinking.
I think the one thing we know for certain with this one is that it's not going be a traditional family rollercoaster. An inversion has been hinted.

Family-Thrill however is a very broad category which ranges from the Family Boomerangs and SFCs at one end and then the likes of Abyssus, Lech Coaster, Icon, Alpina Blitz and Taron at the other end. A lot of those rollercoasters at the extreme end however are accessible from 1.2m or 1.3m onwards compared to larger classic B&M models, even newer B&M dive coaster models in the US have a 1.2m/48 inch height requirement such as Dr Diabolical and Iron Menace which seemed unthinkable until those came around.

I think there's a lot of guesses being made on the basis that Paultons is traditionally a family theme park.

It is a good guess however possibly could happen although I don't think that will be the headliner that's being spoken about.

Here is another update on progress, images are from Paultons_hoot, see source for more.

First more walls are up where Dragon roundabout used to be, happy to see the Dragon is going to Hayling island.

On the site of the old Go-kart track more land clearing has taken place.

Ghostly manor is coming along well. The ride system is going up, ep 3 from Paultons will be interesting.

I do wonder where the old flume will end up.

Edit: (more info on solar project)

This solar power project is a 1.5M investment and apparently the largest of any UK park. The car port structures are taking shape and the pannels in the park are allmost done. This first phase will generate 35% of the parks power.

When it comes to the 2026 area i Just realised the old trampoline/bouncy castle building has come down as well as the small garden.

Seeing both the log flume and dragon area bare is strange as i spent to much time here as a kid, but they have opened up so much land.

With Christmas round the corner what is everyones Christmas Wish for the "Vikings Land" in 2026? What would you want to see unveiled at the next Super Fans event for 2025. What is your dream and realistic ideas. What coasters, water rides and supporting flats would you like to appear in the new Vikings Area?

Heres mine:

Dream

Coaster - Intamin LSM Multi launch
- 2 launches, 100ft top hat, tunnels, airtime hills, snappy s bends, a barrel roll and stall over footpath.
Water - Intamin Flume - minimum of 3 drops, backwards and dark ride section. Themed to Volcanoes of Iceland and based next to Magma.
Flat - Intamin Sky Jump - around 150ft themed to Thor's Lightning.
Flat - Zamperla Nebulaz - looks nice off ride.
Flat - Intamin Motion Tower - Indoor dark ride themed to summoning the gods with lots of smoke, fire, water and lightning effects.

Realistic

Coaster -
Intamin hot racer - Multiple launches, two inversions, low to the ground with constant pacing and lots of air time hills.
Water - Haefma rapid - Similar to River Quest at Phantasialand, vertical lift hill with multiple drops, interacting with Kobra.
Flat - Intamin Bounty - Paultons already have a smaller pirates ship but would be a good opportunity to upgrade this to a larger model, invest for the future.
Flat - Mack Twist N Splash - The splash pads are popular at Paultons so would be a nice addition during the summer months. Gives the thrill of a splash battle but with a much more affordable price tag.
Flat - Huss Break Dance - Themed to viking battle chariots.

With the size of the area Paultons have cleared and walled off above I can see multiple coasters being added or at least back to back themed lands in the works. Can't wait to see what they have planned!

Are they really going to fill that entire space with Vikings? It's so big, they could easily fit two themed areas.

What if the empty grassy part became the Vikings land, and the Cobra/Edge area became another themed land?

Realistically, I expect something like a GCI, but one of those new inverting ones. I could easily believe Paulton's getting something like Plopsa's Heidi with a barrel roll.

On the flat ride front, perhaps a Nebulez as they're popping up everwhere, though it would be weird to have two Viking themed Nebulezes/Nebuli/Nebula in the UK.

Mack twist-n-splash? Definitely. It would fit the park perfectly and can easily be themed to Vikings.

Want, a Rapids to wrap around Cobra. I'm not sure they'll want to invest in one of those right now with the cost and the bad press rapids have now since Drayton.

A larger GCI, more on the scale of Wodan or Troy. I don't see them going that big.

Another dark ride, with boats. It would fit the theme, would complement the lineup, but would be mega expensive and have major land take.

Edit: Okay, can we agree in the plural for a Nebulez please?

Amazing ideas

For me, this is my dream and realistic choices. I've made some quite ambitious predictions earlier but think this is more realistic.

Launch Coaster with at least one inversion.
Dream: Mack Stryker Coaster
Realistic: Intamin LSM Launch Coaster (likely the new family model)

Large Scale Water Ride
Dream: Intamin Flume on the same scale as Chiapas at Phantasialand
Realistic: Interlink Super Flume (near clone of Viking Voyage at Emerald Park).

Whilst a rapids would be nice, I really can't see rapids being realistic for UK park's nowadays without being too tame.

Thrill Flat Ride:
Dream: Huss Enterprise 2G
Realistic: Zamperla Air Race

Family Thrill Flat Ride:
Dream: Huss Breakdance
Realistic: Zamperla Nebulaz

Family Flat Rides
My thoughts seem to be both dream and seems quite realistic with Paultons ongoing relationship with Mack and a potential for a double deal: Mack Seastorm and Mack Twist N Splash

Something amazing to have though, Dodgems. ☺️

that's why im kind of expecting a rapids as well as a coaster as they take up quite a lot of space
