Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland query

Are the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland suppose to race each other instead of being sent out separately.

They never get dispatched together, always staggered. Once up lift, the other side goes.

Also one side is a little longer than the other side, so if they were to race the shorter side would always win and that would be stupid because there would be no competition between the two sides.
