Pretty cool concept, one man is setting out to ride every U.S. roller coaster over the course of 3 months, covering 13,000 miles.

He has created a blog site from which he'll provide video and photo updates on his adventures.

Look forward to hearing about his progress, and wish him all the best of luck!

Is it EVERY coaster or is there rules? Otherwise he's going the need to borrow a hec of a lot of children to get on some coasters lol.
I wonder how much it's all costing him.

He doesn't seem to be doing "every" coaster; all the main parks for sure, but at a glance there seems to be a lot missing?

He even says hes not doing the kiddie coasters and the ones that he doesn't fancy. Wimp.

Any park I didn’t include is because the coasters didn’t fit the bill for me. They need to be either historic (i.e. oldest) or thrill rides. Otherwise I’m just going on the same small coasters all over the place.

So how is this much different from what Jerry does? :p

In any event, I salute him, but he's going to have his work cut out for him trying to stay on schedule and riding every coaster in parks like Cedar Point or Magic Mountain in one day. Also, apparently he hasn't saved up for this trip, he's just going to "make things happen." :?

Every coaster my ass. He isn't even going to Knoebels!
He's also says he's going to the NASCAR Cafe.
Doesn't have a clue what he's in for, but still rather ambitious & I hope he can pull it off.

Silly man.. missing a lot there.. not even going to Waldameer or Knoebels is certainly not going everywhere. I call ****.

I would applaud his efforts if he didn't claim to be riding every coaster in the US. I doubt many people will donate to his trip when it's just him having a lot of fun.

A quick RCDB search came up with 641 operating coasters in the country. Anyone know how many he's doing?

It's a cool and fun idea, but he's not doing EVERY coaster, just the 'good' ones, hence making it less challenging. For it to be a proper test of self he'd need to do a gruelling trek scooping up every last goddam Big Apple and *insert you favourite piece of **** coaster here* that there is going. Bit of a cop out really =/

Yah I agree with what everyone is saying, it's a bit silly if he is skipping a lot of the major parks or even some of the smaller parks with one major coaster, such as Waldameer. If it was legit it would be interesting, and it's still fairly ambitious, but not as exciting if he were doing it properly.

So he's trying to ride every US coaster except inconvenient ones or ones he doesn't fancy?

That's like trying to break the world record for holding your breath but having a ten second break for breathing every minute.

You guys are worrying bout crossing the t's and dotting the i's with coaster credits, when frankly it really doesn't matter. He is doing 3 months of solid roller coaster riding! If that isn't an epic challenge, then I don't know what is.

I don't see anyone else setting out on a similar journey.

^That may be because most of us actually have lives?

Of course, there's also the matter of the fact that even I will have polished off about half of the amount he's doing in the US...

OH, and I don't think even any of us are audacious enough to go around asking for other people to pay for our trips! (*insert TPR dig here if you so wish to*)

I will have CERTAINLY done a higher percentage of the UK than he has of the US, and you don't see me going around going "I'VE RIDDEN EVERY COASTER IN THE UK*" (*except ones I cba with)

It's actually just audacious, that's the only word I can come up with for his actions, and from reading what he says in the comments, he seems a bit of an idiot, and I predict this will fail.

^ Ah well, if it does fail, it will be like a car crash: very gruesome, but you just can't turn away.

Karol DMd (Direct Messaged) the CF Twitter account last night...
Wanted to say thanks for your support on the forum. I'm not going to participate because I don't mess with negativity. But thank you. :)
I did try to reply but (for those not familiar with Twitter), you can't send a DM to those who don't/no longer follow you...

Personally I think it's a interesting challenge, particularly with the amount of miles and parks he'll be covering, but I do agree that it's wrong to claim to ride "every coaster in the USA" when he's blatantly not.

Make of that what you will

Urgh. "Don't mess with negativity" always, ALWAYS translates into "I know I'm not doing every coaster or anything, but, I'm not about to admit it and look silly, so I'll just ignore anyway making a point"

Ugh.

As Amanda Thompson would say, "idiot, idiot, what an idiot"...

I just read through his page. I'm intrigued by this kind of thing.

First up, it's a fantastic and ambitious trip. Hyde is right on that one, it's a serious feat.

Ian is also right, it's wrong to claim it's "every coaster in the US". However, having read the site, I'm not surprised that there's a degree of... fluff... about the entire exercise.

It's lots of get rich quick, buzz-word marketing, partially hidden pyramid schemes. Essentially making money from telling people how to make money (you set up a blog, and then sell the same set of tips to somebody else down the line (or an end product that you could have got for free from some FAQ's and half an hour on Google)).

Again, the entire "I don't mess with negativity" thing hit me with such a wallop of deja vu I knew what I'd find behind it all before looking. Ho hum.

Still, good luck to him on the trip of a life-time. It really is an awesome venture and something I'll bet a lot of people wish they could do.
