Major Changes for Disney's California Adventure

Presumably to allow them to send cars through the other side if there was some problem. If they were two separate tracks then there would be a backlog if something went wrong in the station, whereas with this set-up they can just file the cars through the working side.

Might not be the exact reason, but seems to make sense.

After having just visited Disney with Jordan... Words cannot DESCRIBE how impressive Radiator Springs looks in person, it's utterly breathtaking. The amount of detail and lighting. It looks so natural and a true image of the films, however not in a tacky way.

Unfortunately we went when the voice characters were being given a tour, so it was shut off to us. But still, as amazing as the videos look, the actual area will blow your MIND up close.

Wow. The ride's even better at night;

Again, that tunnel, wow!

Hmmmm... That camera didn't look like it was secured or operated by a professional, but the ride is really, truly awesome :)

The park hasn't even been open for 6 hours yet, so I'm not quite sure how that works?

Apparently a six-hour queue on opening day. Yikes!
Have you got a source for the information?

I think people have got confused between the Soft Opening and just an Opening Day.

My moms friend was there today, she goes to Disney weekly and said today was the busiest she has ever seen DCA, the wait for Radiator Springs Racers was around 5-7 hours all day, at night it looks spectacular, and overall it is just fantastic everywhere.

And yeah, today was the official opening, media day was yesterday and Wednesday was the "grand opening ceremony." There has been something in the paper here every day this week about it, from talking about the new rides, the new food places, the overall improvements from 5 years ago, all that stuff.

Lofty Leigh was there as were Darren and they said 6 hour queue and still 4 hours when the park closed.

Tpr also said 6 hours.

5 hours is **** ridiculous. Ok, so it looks good but no ride ever is worth queuing 5 hours for. Ever.

Does it have fast track?

I would never queue that long ever, surprised they even built a queue long enough to hold a 6hr+ queue to be honest.

Yes it has fast pass but they ran out within 30 mins of park opening.

Agree with Ian I would not queue 5 hours either.

They probably didn't.
When they get absurd queues they just set up temporary stanchions and ropes outside the main queue area. CMs have these little kits on wheels with the equipment so they can do all this quickly. I was there about 3 days after the subs opened at DL and they just set up a huge temp queue around the lagoon and past Matterhorn.

So basically Cars Land has done a bit of a Harry Potter and been so popular that the land ends up overcrowded and unenjoyable, yay!

Obviously it's great that it's so popular but they need to negotiate some other kind of crowd control, that kind of volume of people must be unbearable!
