Lightwater Valley Big Ride Coming Soon?

"We've made our old ride LONGER!"

Yes, because that sounds SO much better than "We've got a bran new ride!"

They are utterly retarded.

They need to get something like a Eurofighter. Something cheap that ticks all the boxes. They should stop buying fair rides.

What's even more retarded is that they haven't actually got a lot of flat land. So they just buy and sell flat fair rides. Why the are they already getting a replacement for that hornet thing? They ONLY JUST GOT IT.

Just bad decision after bad, I almost hope the place goes bust and shuts. They deserve it.

Yes, they should get a rage clone.

Even I like those traveling rapids (not ridden LWVs) and I hate water rides. But that doesn't change the fact that it's just a fair ride... stuck there. There's no effort to integrate anything. It feels like a fairground at a park around bonfire night. Because it... well it is essentially that.

Well, I think cost is factoring into some of this - according to the bloke, they have to rebuild the Ultimate's trains every year because it beats them up so much. Whether or not extending the corners will actually make it smoother is another thing, that was just me extrapolating from the point.

Also, dinosaurs is definitely unconfirmed, just gossip off the ride-ops on the Rat at the time.

Well I have been told the new flat ride which is under consideration will dwarf Eagles Claw in terms of how extreme and the type of ride it is.

Was hoping for a drop tower, but I wouldn't say they're more extreme than The Claw.

This is fair enough, but the fact is all the evidence weighed against them prooves they are a park full of badg choices. The fact that Ultimate even exists is, as much as I love the think, proof that that park has no idea what the hell it's doing.

I'm going to write them a mildly angry letter, expressing my thoughts. As soon as I can be bothered.

I've always said a Boomerang would fit snug in LWV, down the quiet end by Trauma Tower. The area that only see's about 10 guest a day.

Also whack in a clone of Hyper Blaster (Pleasure Island) and Log Flume, and the park is then alot more complete.

Well they might as well just remove it then. The most anticipated section of any coaster in the world will become boring.

Thats pretty piss poor of the park to be honest, its not like its really going to be anything 'new'. And how the hell are they going to advertise this?

And I dont get how making the bends bigger will make thr train travel faster...surely the more track, the more friction?

So the only reason to visit LWV is pretty much on its way out, great! This is a dark day for the coaster community.

Presuming you're talking about the Ultimate; presumably by advertising it as being the longest coaster again

He meant how will they market it as something new, the GP will just turn around and say "I have been on it before anyway". It's hardly going to make people want to return to the park is it?

Yeah I was on about how can they explain about it being longer. After all, if the campaign just says 'worlds longest' etc bla bla, alot of people will probably think its an old advert.

Yet on the other hand, if they plug it as 'worlds longest, new and improved, extended' etc, EVERYONE will have high expectations, and EVERYONE will come off saying 'well that wasn't any different ' and feel totally ripped off. Making bends larger are the kind of things that us goons will notice, not the same GP that think Nemesis is the same as Colossus...no way, they ain't got a hope in hell of noticing a difference ion bends.

All they need to do is add a third lift, no need for it to be 100ft, just 60-70ft, with a few hills and turns etc. THEN they would have something 'new'.

The news leaves me cold. Kinda feels like the American Adventure's 'we're going to reinvent the park again' spiel before the park went under.

I don't have a huge problem with the Ultimate's curves being extended, if it does make the ride faster; I suspect AT are banking on a similar experience for SW6.

The rat being replace with dinosaurs? Pitiful, and I do hope that it does just turn out to be gossip. I put this image up on Valley Mania a few weeks ago, to prove that there would be so much potential with the rat, if done right; the theme is the icon, not the coaster. Even the river rapids down there in the dark, would be exceptional. Dinosaurs? that just misses the point.

A new flat for flatwater valley? Well bugger me, that's different isn't it. A few new flats? Then maybe. But one? What is the point.

Before my trip in August, I hadn't been to LWV since summer 2005, so thats 4 years, and the new rides they had built to temp be back were a Ferris Wheel, Waveswiner and Rapids. Not good enough in my opinion.

Its shame really because the park has a beautiful setting and is very well landscaped. All the park ever seems to add is 'filler' rides, which isn't so bad just as long as a 'major' ride pops up every couple of years.

With how Flamingoland is now doing, I honestly dont think the park will have too much time left. They clearly aren't willing to invest properly in it, and unfortunetly I can see them paying the price for that.

Also confirmed: Hornet's nest is going to be replaced by a flat, and Sewer Rat's going to be rethemed to something dinosaury.

Woo!

Very old news.

Valley Mania confirmed all of this at the end of June.

Credit where it is due :p

^ Nothing was properly confirmed though, especially the news about the Ultimate, thanks for your valuable input though.

^ Your medal's in the post.

Extending The Ultimate is a piss-poor idea.

"Come to Lightwater Valley and ride a slightly longer version of something you've ridden already!!!"

Or go to Flamingoland, who have been consistantly adding very well thought out, NEW attractions every year...

Money blah blah blah... A "new" second-hand coaster, or one from a relatively cheap manufacturer would be a much better marketing ploy than extending The Ultimate, and could quite possibly work out cheaper anyway.

Any 10 year old with a copy of Roller Coaster Tycoon could do a better job at running a park. I haven't been there, but it pisses me off to think that I may not get chance to if they keep running the place into the ground.

Morons.

Some people are missing the point regarding the extension.

It's not just about a marketing ploy, the work needs to be carried out in order to stop the severe damage the trains take every year.

The way the train slams into the corners has also been known to move the track.

Having not been LWV, I don't know what to think, right now it looks amazing, the way it tries to main and kill you, if it was extended they would have to find a way to keep it as mad as it is now, and probably add another lift, it needs pulling into the station as it is.

To be fair, valleymania had said about the ultimate extension, rat ride retheme and new 2010 flat months ago. It's hardly new news.

I'm hoping the park decide against the dino idea for the rat and just upgrade the current theme. I'm looking forward to the new flat aswell, probs most likely a technical park spin and spew.

Dino idea is awfull, but not the most inapropriate theme. Could have been themed to flight or something. Flying theme ride underground? Now that would be bad, but still dino idea is big no-no.
