BERLIN
So, our highly anticipated Euro trip commenced on July 9th when we left to Stansted around 3 in the afternoon for our evening flight. As we were waiting for our flight, we had some food and drink at Wetherspoons.
Yay for eating healthy!
When our gate was called, we headed over there and waited for our plane to arrive. Annoyingly, it was storming out.
I was unimpressed with the takeoff, but eventually the seatbelt signs went off and I went pee.
Our plane landed exactly on schedule, and soon enough we had arrived at our hotel!
Since it was pretty late by the time we arrived, we just went to a sheesha bar down the street. It was already about ten or eleven by this time so there was little point sightseeing.
The next day we woke up to a fab but costly breakfast to fuel us up for our busy day.
Because I’m immature, I took a photo of the sign that had the F word on it.
When we crossed the bridge on the way to the city centre, we caught a glimpse of the downtown bit.
We were a bit baffled by all the locks put on the bridge, but later found out that it’s a sign of everlasting love, awww.
We admired some of the buildings.
Including this amazing church.
The park it was in was also pretty nice.
The detail was pretty amazing.
Then we saw this building, which reminded me of a less fab version of the CN tower. It really didn’t fit in with the surroundings!
Since it was hot out, we got a monster slush, which wasn’t that monstrous and very watery.
We admired the city a bit more.
At the end of the long road, we came to the Brandenburg gate, which was definitely a cool thing to see!
Right near the Brandenburg gate was the Bundestag, so we took a few pictures but didn’t stay long since we had a tour inside it later in the afternoon.
We found these cool things, and couldn’t pass up the chance to play in them for a bit!
I saw this, which made me feel right at home..
We checked out Pottsdam which was a bit modern but still nice.
On the way to Checkpoint Charlie, I saw these cute cars.
We also stumbled upon the Berlin Wall, which we had no idea was still standing.
Eventually we got to Checkpoint Charlie.
Since we were really hungry, we stopped in at one of the many McDonalds that we were to eat at on the trip! This one was very well themed and it had the McRib!
We headed back to where our hotel was and stopped at a pub to kill some time before our tour of the Bundestag.
Hawhaw the name of the pub starts with BUM.
Finally it was time for our tour.
After the tour we got the chance to go up to the dome on top of the building, which gave great views of the city.
The dome itself was pretty cool as well.
Since it was pretty late by the time our tour ended, we headed back to the hotel, but not before going to another McDonalds. We also stopped off at the pub near our hotel again, where I had amazing cream of mushroom soup and vodka, a great mix haha.
Then we went back to the hotel and went to bed.
The next day we woke up early and headed off to the train station. Bye bye Novalis hotel!
REVIEW OF BERLIN: Berlin wasn’t a gorgeous city by any means. It was still nice, but it was mostly the history that was amazing about it. I really enjoyed my time there because it was interesting and incredible to see all the things that I had learned about in school. Overall, it was a nice city and the history made it that much better.
