Lapland fury - and I should jolly well hope so!

Santa

Some upstart has decided to try and re-create my home of fun and laughter! In The New Forest of all places! We all know the kinds of people who frequent those parts!

Well, it's not been a terrible success, and many families are furious with the poor attempt.

I caught this article in the Daily Mail before I used it to get the Yule log going:

Lapland Fury

Outrageous! Everyone knows Lapland is nowhere near some dodgy area of Bournemouth.

And for a moment there, I thought there was a hitherto unknown Finnish branch of the family Furie :p.

Rather than reading the Daily Fail, I recommend giving it to the elves Santa; they can line the reindeer pens with it, much more useful.

LOL! Missed this before. It fails the correct furie punctuation

Is Lapland a special dancing club you used to frequent in Bournemouth then Slayed?

That article is probably typical Daily Fail overkill, but it does look shocking. Maybe Ian can go and give us a trip report? :p

 , saw this on the news yesterday there was hundreds of complaints coming in from people who were no happy. Place looked a bit of a **** hole and they said the staff were fighting with each other.

The owner was saying a nasty group turned up and that they were spreading bad rumours about the place.

People were made to the pay the prices in the first place.

Don't be silly my friend, Reindeer don't write!

We buy the Mail in purely for kindling.

Tbh, I actually want to go...I like things like this. I'm easily impressed and would love the sh1tness of it all as well, I'd see it as a joke.

However, I'm not paying 30 quid for a few laughs.

I like how in the video they call it a theme park. :p
I never knew this was on and I live right near the New Forest.

Why is the U.K. so totally crap at this kind of thing? Anything involving a theme, or an "experience" is always done on the cheap and fails miserably.

I live about a mile from this place, and there are loads of road signs and adverts for it around here. We were thinking of taking the cousins, but decided against it due to the price - quite glad we didn't now.

Matchams (the company that runs it) are best known for their stock car/banger racing and go-karting, which would explain why most of the elves are men aged between 18-24, because their day job is banger racing.

They do have a fair in there though! Something like a merry-go-round and a few burger bars.

There is another lapland in Kent, which has been getting better reviews, it actually looks quite good. :p

I also live in Bournemouth, and noticed all the advertising too, when I looked at their website I thought it seemed like so much money for so little to see and do, and now it seems what is there has been done incredibly badly!

Thats great from Alton, but its about a 400 mile+ round trip from Bournemouth to Alton. That would be another £40 or so in fuel, plus any hotels or whatever, since 400miles in a day with young kids is probably a bit too much.

I wonder how many of the people who live close to Lapland New Forest would actually bother to make the journey up to Alton, even if it is free once you get there.
