The LA Times is currently running a vote to see which U.K. rollercoaster should be awarded the title of "U.K.'s top rollercoaster" in a fantastically unofficial competition, voted on by you.

We'll just ignore the typical American problem with distinguishing between England and the U.K. and get on with voting for your favourite coaster from the list.

Hmmmm, what events do you think different coasters could compete in? Triple Jump (Big Dipper PBB)?

^ T'Ultimate would be the Marathon, surely?

Stealth...High Jump

Megafobia...Hurdles, due to the airtime hills.

Steeplechase...Equestrian Clearly

Not a coaster, but the rapids at Alton probably represent Canoe/Kayaking

Oblivion...Reminds me of shot put really...just goes a short distance before falling to the ground quite rapidly.

Rita...Shooting maybe, with the launch and all.

Colossus...Gymnastics really, spends a lot of time upside down and running back and forth in a set area.

Infusion/Any rough coaster...Boxing because it tends to beat you in the head.

Nash.... Synchronised Swimming, at a stretch due to the synchronised, racing nature of the coasters.

Im shocked that The Swarm is winning, seen's as it's a new coaster and not everyone has been on it yet.
But Cobra at Paultons 2nd?

I bet Americans are voting for it because Cobra sounds like what you'd expect an intense coaster to be named.

I think The Swarm is winning because of fanboys. There haven't been many votes, but it's likely that the poll swept around the fan sites like wildfire. Paultons have been pushing the vote themselves with their own social media (it's how I found the thing) and they have a pretty hefty load of dedicated fans too. With Paultons, they're almost exclusively visitors to Paultons as a park too - they've really captured that corner of the market and are well supported by "online mums".

Oh, and which of you funny buggers voted for Tyrolean Tubtwist?

I think it'll be a close match between Nemesis and Swarm.

A sort of New & Fresh vs Nostalgic but pushed the boundaries of scenery and terrain and still relevant.

Swarm probably looks intimidating from afar but Nemesis is a little angry beasty in a pit.

Oops :x

Nah, I'm smart enough not to screw with the L.A. Times. By the way Nemesis is winning with a staggering 37 votes followed by Swarm with 28.

Why is Chessingtons Mine Train on the list and not Vampire or Dragons Fury?

Also Nick Streak is on there twice, once as Nick Streak and as Rollercoaster.

What the ell is wrong with the people voting on this, the big one is winning. Im sorry but being tall does not mean that it's good, the big one is a tall pile of s#*t.

Pleasure Beach Experience posted it on their Facebook page to try and rig the poll.

To be fair, so did Paultons Park

^ And it has 17 votes ;)

I love the concept of this - and it's not to be taken seriously - but there are no fail safes to make sure people don't vote for the same coaster several times. I've voted for Nemesis 6 times now, using the two same computers.

I'd hardly call it rigging the poll, more a case of rallying the PB fans to get involved and support their favourite rides.

I bet you must be gutted to see a ride you said hardly anyone likes leading the poll right now.

Yeah, I've just shamelessly quadrupled Knightmare's votes to move it above Thirteen.

Oh did we miss the epic news of Oakwood relocating to England?

Also
Roller Coaster (Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach)
is the best named Roller Coaster ever. More to the point than 'Corkscrew'.
