Knott's Berry Farm 2013 Rumored Giga Coaster

If it doesn't hug the ground at all, has lots of high turns, and sits above the park, see Silver Bullet.

^Well SB doesn't entirely fly over the park. It's strategically built. A rumored Giga has plenty of space to fit in, ESPECIALLY if Perilous Plunge gets dumped off the map.

It would probably have a L-shaped out and back layout like Leviathan, go past Pony Express, and come back before it reaches Ghoastrider so it wouldn't interfere with Xcelerator at all.

I was thinking Silver Bullet but the size of a giga is still massive, and it looks like a small park.
It'll be impressive for sure.

Interesting little tidbit from Screamscape

New Coaster - Rumor - (9/10/12) Several photos showing off the demolition of Perilous Plunge at Knott’s have been posted to the Knott’s Network fan page on Facebook. How does this tie into the park’s next coaster? I’ve also heard a weird rumor that we may see the splashdown pool and possible the bridge remain in place so they can be reused as part of a splash-down effect for Knott’s next coaster, which makes perfect sense if the B&M rumors are also true. Keep your eyes open.

So Knott's potentially getting a big addition in the next few years is starting to seem more and more like a distant dream

Rumor - (10/3/12) Rumor has it that the new family coaster that may be added to Knott’s could very well be a clone of the Technic Test Track coaster at Legoland California. As for the rumored Giga... we’ve got a new update on that as well below.
(9/24/12) More rumors leaking in on Knott’s future plans. The latest word claims that in addition to a couple of flat rides, the parks next coaster may also be added… but it would only be something the size of a Mad Mouse style coaster. Can you say capacity nightmare? Disney has had enough capacity problems with their own mouse coaster down the road. Not to mention Knott’s has a pretty extensive collection of tiny family friendly coasters already: Jaguar, Pony Express, Sierra Sidewinder and Timberline Twister.

Looks like the rumours may be semi-true...

There's a new coaster, but it's only 52 feet high, so not a giga or megalite or anything like that I'm afraid.

It's called Coast Rider and is in the Boardwalk area of the park.

So now they have how many kiddie creds?

Coast Rider
Pony Express
Jaguar
Sierra Sidewinder
the one in Camp Snoopy, don't recall the name

No park needs 5 kid creds, none. Especially when the others are Xcelerator, Silver Bullet (tame), GhostRider (always down) and Montezooma's Revenge (which kids ride all the time as is). Looks like another reason not to go back to this park.

Surely Sierra Sidewinder and Pony Express are more family rides, than kiddy creds?

And I wouldn't say a 52ft tall coaster is a kiddy cred either.

Why was there a huge gap between Millennium Force and the then the recent influx? Is it coincidence, or has something changed? Perhaps its just cheap to build right now...?

What the actual hell is that thing?! A huge drop into a crappy wild mouse?! Seriously?! What the **** were they smoking when they came up with that?

Oh, and any plans that involve the boomerang of downtime and the top spin of plonked-ness still existing are mental.

Given the benefit of hindsight, less wine in my system, and the information in bmac's post, this maybe isn't as daft as I first though. (Especially when you consider that I actually have one of those creds, and it was pretty fun!) However, it is still a ridiculous choice for Knott's. The throughput will be terrible which, given the queues on my visit, is the last thing they need. Also, as previously mentioned, the park is teaming with good solid family coasters already, they don't need another one. It's a complete waste of the space. I wonder if they had originally planned something bigger, then had to change it late on for some reason?

Also, is there any news yet about Ghostrider? They need to do something (re-track, steel track, burn?) with it asap.

First thing I thought of when I saw that pic was the Jungle Coaster from Legoland, but being just a pic an all, it could have been anything.

But yeah, given that the height practically matches, it's a no brainer.

Ohhhh, Perilous Plunge was fierce, these are vile.

Even the normal Wild Mouses are better <3

The Scrambler has been removed, moved, added like 5 times now. I don't understand their attachment to the ride. And I don't really care about the flying scooter, it does nothing for me.

I don't understand why Knott's keeps having that big coaster chopped. Last year was (supposedly) Leviathan, now this year they add this instead? I fear that if the real estate market in Southern California picks up, this place has a high likelihood of getting chopped. The last "big" coaster was Silver Bullet, and before that was Xcelerator in 02.
