If they went forward with using "Centurion", it could be C350, and be lovingly called C3PO.

Re: Kings Island 2017- Teaser or 'Murica?

So... this will either be a great new ride, or a porn simulator. They're promising pleasure either way, it seems.

EDIT AND BUG REPORT: When you quote a post with an embedded tweet, it seems like your original text always ends up inside the quote box. Posted my reply to Hixee above the quote box instead of below it, which looks a little strange, but the alternative seems to be to have my text inside the quote box, like this.

Re: Kings Island 2017- Teaser or 'Murica?

So an image has surfaced in regards to Kings Island.

They may be getting a nice, out and back styled woodie for their 2017 project.

Re: Kings Island 2017- Teaser or 'Murica?

Definitely looks on the shorter side. If this was Prowler with 50 more ft. I'd get behind that.

Re: Kings Island 2017- Teaser or 'Murica?

The layout does look modified from Prowler, but it's mostly the same. Maybe even less interesting than Prowler?

It'd be a great fit nonetheless.

Re: Kings Island 2017- Teaser or 'Murica?

Oh.

Well that's, uninteresting.

I don't see how they'd really market such a bland woodie with Beast so iconic for the park anyway. Like, either do something totally different (RMC YAY) or I can't see how it'd work?

That might literally be the biggest anti-climax since, well, Alton's RMC.

Grandson of Beast?

Re: Kings Island 2017- Teaser or 'Murica?

Well well well, looks like any reason I ever thought I had to visit Worlds of Fun just went poof! Not ridden Prowler but I've heard good things, so I could definitely get behind something similar. But having a little GCI woodie prowling about the woods interacting with the rapids would definitely be really cool I feel, especially if they maybe bring back the Beast storyline. Maybe Wild Beast, anyone? ;)

But we all know this is a red herring and not at all correct. It'll be a Larson loop marketed as a coaster, obviously.

Re: GCI Woodie for Kings Island 2017?

You can't really judge this from a top-down view though, there is so much that this perspective doesn't show.
- All it shows is the route really.
I'm not saying there is, but there could be some awesome elements hiding in there - at least it seems pretty ignorant to just write it off as **** already based on a winding line.

Re: GCI Woodie for Kings Island 2017?

^None of us are saying it's ****. We're all saying it's anticlimactic. If a park teases something this early, it must be a big addition- like an RMC or at least a Custom GCI(assuming we knew it was wooden). But when you find out it's a modified clone, you are quite disappointed. Prowler is a great ride(from my understanding), but it doesn't really make sense to add it to a park this big and noteworthy. Here's a comparison of Prowler and the plans:

Here's Prowler:

And here are the plans:

Same ride more or less, but modified to fit the terrain and park. It looks like it has even less stuff than Prowler(unless if an inversion is hiding in there somewhere, which would make this ride much more interesting). None of say it's a bad fit, it'd give the park a good woodie that can be enjoyed both day and night, we're just saying it's not what we expected.

Re: GCI Woodie for Kings Island 2017?

Prowler is fantasic, even better at night. As Hyde mentioned earlier, add another 50 feet to height and it becomes a top tier coaster.

Nobody knows height or anything, for all we know this could include GCI first launch since they talked about it years ago at IAAPA for a shuttle. It could be 200 feet tall. Nobody knows yet, we just have an idea.

Re: GCI Woodie for Kings Island 2017?

I think he meant GCI's first launch. But if I remember correctly, their shuttle concept was more of a Boomerang-type lift system.

Re: GCI Woodie for Kings Island 2017?

^That was a trademark Jarrett dig at Lightning Rod, actually. :p

In all seriousness, though, if this is the first launched GCI than that means whatever Alton has up their sleeve is even less exciting now. Don't think it will be, though. Emily and I have been basing our speculations and discussions about Cedar Fair 2017 off of that timetable that Cedar Fair put out not too long ago, and one of the things on the plate for 2017 was a "mid-thrill attraction," a GCI fits the description for this perfectly.

I also can't help but feel like this might be included as part of Planet Snoopy rather than Rivertown. Not only does Rivertown have an iconic world-class wooden coaster like Ben said, but Planet Snoopy lacks any proper family coaster. They have three kiddie creds, but nothing that can be properly enjoyed by parents and older kids that might also serve as a first full-sized coaster for those little screaming pooping demons that just braved all three smaller Planet Snoopy coasters and feel ready to try out a big full-sized coaster without switching areas completely. Not to mention Planet Snoopy has had a tradition of including family-friendly rides such as Surf Dog or Woodstock Gliders. Not sure a 100-foot GCI wouldn't be pushing it for this, they just added two rides to Planet Snoopy, and I doubt they would tease anything Planet Snoopy this much, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out as a theory. Hell, Wilderness Run would even work as a name for a GCI twisting back into the woods over Whitewater Canyon.

But anything that takes crowds away from my purple-haired goth mistress Banshee I'm good with! ;)

Re: GCI Woodie for Kings Island 2017?

Hmmm... It's a shame Six Flags and Cedar Fair always choose GCI over Gravity group :( If GCI do many re-tracks it makes sense. I won't say too much on the layout, but if was tall, I would have expected something longer. At least we can rely on China to build the best looking coasters from both the manufacturers :)

Re: GCI Woodie for Kings Island 2017?

Not GCI. Just sayin'...

Well that's certainly interesting. I'd say my next guess would be GG then, for two reasons. Not only are they local but those support trusses looks remarkably like what one should expect from a more traditional woodie like Voyage or RFII. Also, I feel like we'd be seeing sections with more support off to the side to support inversions and the like if it was RMC.

Surprised to see it isn't GCI considering how CF always works with either them or B&M only anymore so it'll be interesting to see who else is coming into the picture.
