Well I'm pretty sure the writing is on the wall. 500 ft. Aquatrax.
 
It would be time for some new attractions in the water park by now, last ones were 4 years from 2016.

It's a time-honoured tradition after all.

That being said, I concur with the water park sentiments. The theme park industry seems to have evolved in such a direction that announcing your announcement only one day ahead indicates a rather minor addition. For really big rides, you'd have a teaser first, later followed by a countdown to the revelation of the actual announcement date.
 
I have a feeling it may have to do with The Racer as both their twitter and instagram posts had a picture of it in them. Could be to just throw people off, but most likely not. Hopefully they aren't planning on giving it the Thunder Road treatment because I rode it 3 times on both sides this year and there's really nothing wrong with it. (Not that there was anything wrong with Thunder Road either). So it could possibly be a re-track, or (hopefully not) a tearing down. Maybe even topper track?...
 
^It's the most popular ride in the park. It isn't going anywhere.

I feel like this is a slide tower for Soak City, probably similar to the one Carowinds got recently. I could also see a makeover of the Racer plaza. I feel like the addition of a Haunt building by The Crypt's old shell kind of set the stage for a dark ride there but Ouimett said no dark ride in 2016 so no dark ride for us. At the park last week I also didn't see any construction so it either hasn't started yet or it's in Soak City.

I also feel it's important to note that this announcement was just teased today and also happens to be the day after Valravn was supposed to be announced. It feels sort of impromptu, like "Cedar Point's announcement isn't going to be there to overshadow ours anymore so let's just **** it and let the cat out of the bag."

Slide tower is my guess.
 
^Don't forget the new grand parking toll plaza and parking lot redo. Surprised no ones seen the markings all over the parking lot.

Nice adds, though still bummed it wasn't a dueling Frog Hopper.
