Kingda Ka and Green Lantern's removal for new 2026 record-breaking coaster

Because, Zamperla doesn't use survey markers?

Sorry guys, please don't jump too far on survey markers; they can literally be anything but coaster work, such as repaving concrete or digging for new landscaping. Wait for more confirmation and tell before you call your shot. :)
When I was there on Nov 1 the whole parking lot in front of Superman/Green Lantern/Ka was closed off. My first thought was either it's getting repaved or the rumors are true and whatever will be replacing those coasters may take up a portion of that lot.

Got three rides on Ka in row 3 and they were the best I've had in years. Will definitely be sad if it does leave us.

I had a trip out to CGA planned this past September, but ended up scrapping that to go east (SFGAdv, DP, HP) when the rumors of Green Lantern's removal at the end of the season started floating around. In hindsight, it was a very good choice. Even so, last weekend I found myself doing the back and forth about buying a flight for a quick return and a few more laps on Ka. I came to my senses and realized it wasn't worth the unhappy wife- but it was a tempting thought. If they could just keep it running into next season (and when it dies, it dies...) I'd be back there.

We're not going to see another Top Thrill Dragster or Kingda Ka again, so it's very disappointing to lose this coaster so quietly, without even the consolation prize of a (failed) re-imagining.

does anyone know the source of the rumors? if so is it a reliable source?

this whole kingda ka removal kurfluffel seems kinda strange & outa place. especially for america's tallest coaster. unfortunately all signs do point to its inetivable demise.

however what we don't know is if it's being removed. for all we know the markers could mean an extension of KA's layout, maybe gerstlauer or intamin will fix this problem?

what I'm trying to say is we dont 100% know what its fate is, but undoubtedly something's going happen

Markers are always ripe for speculation as SOMETHING is happening in the area, regardless of the size. It'd be horrible news if KK were to go, as well as GL. But, other than hearsay suggestions from YouTubers and a screenshot of an apparent article on six flags website, I haven't seen anything that concrete about KK going.

Also, I haven't seen a single thing that suggests anything being done to GL other than "oh, its definitely going. It has to go". Have I missed something here?

I don't doubt the possibility of these going, and dread that reality. But this discussion seems to have been pretty nebulous, to say the least.

In my years as a coaster enthusiast, one thing I've learnt is there's no smoke without fire.

Baseless, made up rumours don't travel far enough and gain this amount of attention. Like even if I started a rumour now that Stealth at Thorpe Park was closing down, it wouldn't spread far enough / would get shot down. But there's so many rumours going round, so much "smoke", that there's clearly something going on.

Now the bigger question is what is the "fire". Is it that the park are now deciding the ride's future? They're closing it? They're tearing it down? Building a ride over it? Making it Kingda 2? Right now, we don't know for certain. But the smoke from the fire has been fanned pretty widely.

But yeah, there's obviously something related to KK happening.

You did see how widely that tiktok video originally posted on April fools about stealth costing spread, right?

I think it's worth saying one of the biggest voices in this recent rumour has been coaster studios. May I remind everyone of their comments on Kumba's closure a couple years ago. What happened there?... (some quite telling re-wordings to title and description since)...

I would really, seriously doubt that the world's tallest operating ride would shut without some kind of official marketing and fanfare. I simply don't buy it.

I'm sure something is happening, the amount of third parties talking about it and the literal physical markers around the site say so. But closure? Surely not.

However it's worth noting my own personal bias whilst commenting on this, considering a very large part of me is personally invested in this considering how I was spited by the damn ride in July and I'd need to travel *checks google maps* 3,500 miles to get onto this damn thing.

Perhaps this is me just wishful thinking - but I have a feeling that Six Flags (or Cedar Fair or whoever) know that they've got a very significant coaster on their hands with Kingda Ka, and they wouldn't just 'Amanda it' without any warning.

If it's closing after this season, my feeling is that it's either going to be SBNO'd until they figure out the Dragster situation and may then follow a similar sort of conversion, OR they're satisfied enough with the work Zamperla (& others?) are doing with Dragster and are still going to push ahead with a conversion.

It would be incredible for them to just shut it now with very little fanfare and then just scrap it. I'd be gobsmacked.

Glad I have the cred from years ago regardless... :D

Tonight we just received confirmation that Six Flags Over Texas has suddenly permanently closed their Superloop and La Vibora, the last of the Intamin Bobsleds, with no warning or official release at all. Granted, the latter was in horrible shape but still.

I would mentally prepare, is all.
