Kingda Ka and Green Lantern's removal for new 2026 record-breaking coaster

What kind of important record will it be for this new coaster?
Because the height, speed and length record are for Falcons Flight and inversion record is for the Smiler.
Will it be acceleration or something like that?
Probably something like "The tallest multi-launch spinning coaster in North America", or "The fastest coaster that's painted pink in New Jersey".
Yeah my expectations are low.

Acceleration ? I doubt it if that’s from Mack… Maybe the tallest and fastest spinning coaster which is not gonna be hard to beat because the record is hold by Time Traveler and Euromir.

Damn I wasn't keeping up with the Kingda Ka closure and assumed it was getting the TTD2 treatment, only to see the top hat now has explosives strapped to it o_O

Is this the first time a coaster has ever been blown up to demolish it?

I’m intrigued to see if there are any videos of the implosion online afterwards… obviously safety is the top priority, but I can only imagine that a 450ft top hat being blown up would be an utterly fascinating, if dramatic, thing to witness!

Imo there's only three real records: height, speed and inversions. Removing Kingda Ka for a "record-breaker" would be embarrassing unless it was one of those three.

If it wasn't going to be one of those three; for example if it was going to be a triple-launch Xtreme Spinner with the strongest airtime, the fastest spinning launch, the most spins, the fastest upside-down launch and the most JoJo rolls - then, at least imo, it would be better to just call it a world-leading or world-class roller coaster.

The low hanging fruit is inversions. Currently the record is held by a gravity powered coaster smaller than the nearest trees...

Probs completely wrong but according to my logic it'll be a 15 looper.

On a side note, I’ll admit to being ever surprised that an American park never built one of those Rev B Intamin 10 loopers like Sik at Flamingo Land.

It would have been an easy, legitimate claim to “most inversions in North America” for relatively little outlay!

It does surprise me that America largely doesn’t seem to have gone for inversions as a record given its huge innovation in other records; it took until 2019 for North America to exceed 7 inversions, which many large-scale B&Ms have managed for a good 20-30 years!

The US was the only player back in the early days of the inversion record, but then quit the game prematurely at its apex.

Modern era inversion record:

1/2: Corkscrew, KBF -1975
3: Corkscrew, CP - 1976
4: Carolina Cyclone, Carowinds - 1980
5. Viper, Darien Lake - 1982
6. Vortex, KI -1987
7. Shockwave,SFGAm -1988

And after it got up to 7 inversions in just over a decade, the US collectively said "alright, enough of that then" for the next three decades.

Part of this could be that we've had inversions the longest, since the first two (safely) looping coasters were both in SoCal in the 70s.... so we've had inversions for over 50 years. Could be a bit jaded on them by now, lost a bit of their allure
;)
