Kentucky Kingdom | Lightning Run | Chance Rides Hyper GT-X

The absurd number of supports on SD2K is due to earthquake protection, which exploded the cost to $52,000,000 USD at the time, which is about $71.7 million in 2012 dollars.

I wasn't meaning the actual number of supports, I was thinking of the distance between the supports supporting the track.

Re: Kentucky Kingdom | Lightning Run | Chance Rides Hyper GT

BBH actually made a point that I had forgotten about. They did design SD2k to deal with earthquakes. This may have been another reason why they wanted a larger and stronger track system.

Coat hangers.... lol. Thats not the reason for wonky tracks. Computers, or at the very least, paper, was always used at Arrow Dynamics. I hope you were all joking. Toomer only ever did wire designs to visualise the track better, but thats as far as it went.

Wonky tracks are due to age and wear and tear. Even rides like Vampire at Chessington suffer with warping and it usually happens due to heat changes thats moving the track about.

Wire design, paper and computers.

Now, the reason for Arrows odd shaping was due to their pivoted axel configuration. Rather than individual wheel-clusters we see on modern coasters, these wheels weren't free to move about as freely as they are now, so certain elements such as the corkscrew would need to enter in that odd manner that we're used to with them.

Twisty! I love the colours on this thing.

Re: Kentucky Kingdom | Lightning Run | Chance Rides Hyper GT

Ok. I love that overbank. I still wish they'd have not chose green for supports <//3

Re: Kentucky Kingdom | Lightning Run | Chance Rides Hyper GT

Oh it looks all yucky and twisty and snappy and YAY!!! I love it!! It looks like a child has scribbled everywhere. :D

Re: Kentucky Kingdom | Lightning Run | Chance Rides Hyper GT

Wow I didn't expect it to be that steep a drop! Looks great to me :--D

Re: Kentucky Kingdom | Lightning Run | Chance Rides Hyper GT

It looks... cute. That baby overbank looks like a ton of fun, too.

Re: Kentucky Kingdom | Lightning Run | Chance Rides Hyper GT

This looks like it will turn out to be a super fun ride.

Re: Kentucky Kingdom | Lightning Run | Chance Rides Hyper GT

The final bunny hops look....bizzare.

Infact the whole ride looks bizzare. I can't figure out how a train can comfortably fit round this bends and hills.

Re: Kentucky Kingdom | Lightning Run | Chance Rides Hyper GT

Oh this ride is going to have some interesting forces with such a small footprint.

Re: Kentucky Kingdom | Lightning Run | Chance Rides Hyper GT

Starting to wonder if there wasn't a little Pax Wild Train influence in this...

Re: Kentucky Kingdom | Lightning Run | Chance Rides Hyper GT

The nose kinda reminds me of the Mach 5, if only the train was white.
