Hahaha - it will go ahead, definitively.

Even with all the will and determination in the World they're a long, long way off here.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but 'definitively' is much too strong a word to use.

Maybe my dad being a construction consultant or what I see at work has jaded me on this, but, so many projects get to this stage and never happen (half the Dubai projects got this far!), even with all the best efforts of the team doing it. What if Paramount go bust? What if there's another credit crunch?

The only way you can know if it will happen 'definitively' is if you've been to the year 2019.

Well if its anything Ben - At the meeting, I found out that the local council has awarded the project £200 million. I dunno about you, but to me, this looks like a project that will happen for sure.

I am a strong supporter of the scheme (being local to the area), though even I have to agree with Ben on that one. I believe there is a very good chance it will happen in some form but I would never use the word 'definitely'. It is such a colossal project that any number of things could happen.

I might take this time to reflect back on the Battersea Power Station project that sought to create a massive indoor theme park in the heart of London. They owned the land, the funds were in place, but costs were massively higher than they had anticipated and they were forced to abandon the project during construction.

If you want another example, take a look at Universal Dubailand. It got as close as construction and still got canceled.

These things can happen unfortunately.

That's the thing I do think it will happen, but people keep making out it's going to have loads of rides and I really don't think it will.

It will probably have 4d and 3d stuff but maybe just one coaster or something not loads like people hope.

Funding is only one tiny part of it, and is pretty much this first thing you secure.

It's not a case of 'we have some money, so it will happen'... They don't own the land yet!

And that's why the Council will almost certainly have something in place to get their money back.

Thank you, I like you.

Exactly, just because people 'think' it will happen doesn't mean that it will.
The only thing we can do is wait and see how the project progresses.
They point blank told me there was no government investment in the scheme. I'll be sure to ask them about that 200 million when I speak to them next.

EDIT:

If you are talking about the 200M that has been pledged for homes, that is nothing to do with the park (although it is in the same area). Look at the original articles about the site. Those houses are much more likely to go ahead whatever happens to the park (although it's worth noting that the housing site at the quarry in Ebbsfleet has already been postponed once).

The guy I spoke to said the park was goign to be 100% privately funded

omg, I agree 100% with Sue.

It's looking likely, and I cannot believe it but I'm delighted, but I wouldn't count the chickens before they hatch just yet.

How much is £200mill in terms of producing a park of this size, anyway? I bet piss in the ocean.

There's a lot more happening 'behind closed doors' though and I'm not making up my strong statement based off of the meetings being held in the area, because to be fair; they mean nothing.

You're missing my point - as much as they are doing behind closed doors means nothing if something out of their control happens.

Seems like a really stretched out process but they really do seem to be focusing on getting all the locals on board which I like.

Let's hope RMC, Intamin and B&M are on the agenda. Although, I would also be happy with Gerstlauer.

I'm holding out hope for a second hand go gator to be honest. If they're is a coaster, it'll be in that kind of category I reckon.
