Jazz (and film scores!) in the living room

Me and my family play a lot of jazz and so I thought it would be fun to put up videos of us playing. I just have one at the moment and it's of me and my dad.

I play piano in this but I play sax to a much higher standard than I do on piano. Anyway, I'm rambling....

Cheers peep!

I've been playing piano for about 5 or 6 years now but only recently have I branched out into jazz piano.

I have to say, I was expecting this to be some kind of magazine review ;)

^Agreed. I am, to say the least, musically handicapped, however I do know a good tune!

That really was great, relaxing, but at the same time upbeat.

I can't wait to see more!

This makes me sad, because as Hixee said he is, I am musically challenged when it comes to any kind of instrument or singing.

Very good though, I quite liked it despite not being a huge jazz fan.

I've got another one for you!

Autumn Leaves

At least one more coming later.

And Erol, I'll think about it...

Very nice, although wrong season! ;)

Get your Sax out!

Got many more for you here! Had a bit of a session tonight...

And as requested, the sax got taken out. The sax ones might sound a bit odd because I don't have a piano accompanist.

Can you do:

Fox Boogie by Gerhard Trede

and

Mighty Mighty Man by Roy Brown?

Yes, I play Fallout 3.

Therefore I should NOT recommend Butcher Pete no matter how much I like it.

Bugger.

Tom, you're brilliant.
If you don't go on to become an extremely well known musician, then I'll seriously eat my hat! :p

Wow, hearing Watermelon Man brings back memories for me. I used to play that on the Sax in a small band when I was about your age. I ended up getting bored and gave it up in the end - I should really play it again!

Keep up the good work. :)

I don't like sax being played with no backing, the melodies make no sense. To me, it's an instrument that needs something to complement it, without anything, it sounds like noise and notes.

Though, I have to say, you are a flipping awesome player, and I'd love to hear you play the sax with an accompaniment!

^ I know, and normally I would play with an accompanist but the only available one was my dad who wasn't fast enough to play the chords. :(

I'll pick an easier one for him later...

Cool beans!

You're really good, considering your age. You certainly seem to have a knack for it, so keep it up!

Have you ever written any of your own stuff, or do you just play other people's stuff?

Cheers Lain!

At the moment It's just other people's stuff. I haven't really founnd the time or patience to write something myself.

I reckon when my brother gets beack from uni next week I'll do some of his compositions as he has a whole bunch for two horns.
