What's new

iSpeed, Intamin LSM coaster for Mirabilandia in 2009

Well the latest rumours are saying it will be an Intamin Accelerator with 4 inversions with a height of around 160ft... we will just have to wait for the announcement though which hopefully won't be long.

^Sorry to mod this topic, but do you remember where you read it? And could you provide a link?
(I want to read it too!)

If so, the speculations should start swirling again soon. Thanks for finding the old topic, though.

I don't unfortunately, but it obviously must have been a coaster site, I think it was a coaster forum.

If they are going with an Intamin, I wonder why rcdb says B&M?..

Here's some more updates from screamscape, scroll to the bottom of the page-

Nice one.

So it is an Intamin it seems..

Can't wait to see some construction pics.

That new attraction- Reset looks really cool.

Is it assumed the new coaster will be ready for the beginning of the 09 season?

Wow. Intamin? Launched? What about... B&M Hyper? Inversions?

Well they gave the source as a magazine, in which there aren't usually many rumours. Screamscape also cites an Intamin rumour, as well as a pic, staing that the space freed by demolishing Sierra Tonante, isn't what you'd normally build a hyper on.

(awww, it was a beautiful coaster)

Intamin has already built a 2009 coaster in Italy, at Terra dei Giganti nearby. For 2009, they also have planned a mega-lite, but otherwise, RCDB states that they haven't announced more projects
( http://www.rcdb.com/m/ir.htm?opened=2009&contact=8 ).

There are no launched coasters in Italy as of yet (well, technically there is one...). This one could draw crowds, as it would be the fastest coaster in Italy, and the 5th or 6th fastest in Europe.

ScreamScape also mentions the mystery DM track, but... Ohio? That's about 7.300 kms away from the park. While a DM absolutely would fit in the space, I don't think that's intended for Mirabilandia.

Well, that is what I have scraped together from this.

I'm kind of tired of launches since Rita was built. Its getting too much now. To be completely honest, I wouldn't mind if they built a Mega-Lite, even better; something on the lines of Maverick or Fahrenheit. Just launches are a load of **** now :(

I'm super pissed off I went this year then, lol (Only joking because Katun is ace :))

I've got a construction picture from my holiday, but it doesn't show anything.

Basically when I was there all I could see was old footers (NOTE: Not New) and the old station with bits of track still around.

And yes this is a CF exclusive pic :p Unless some Italian person went on the monorail too and took a picture aswell :? I also noticed a lack of track which made me sad.

Does anyone know why it's called iSpeed, as it's around a Depth Charge thing, a kiddie area, Reset and is not far from the Flume (themed to cars, which are fast) Wait I've figured it out

So that means that you don't actually like Furius Baco or Stealth, seeing as they were both built after Rita? :S

Anyway, this is quite disappointing, I kind of wanted it to be a Dive Machine. But hey, you never know, we might end up with a tall Kanonen here.

Apple Sponsorship!

Three Inversions? Norwegian Loop, and a corkscrew? Or Cobra Roll and Flying Snake Dive?
Tophat? This will be interesting...
100 kph? What puzzles me, is that the height is stated as 50 m, but you'll need more speed than 100 kph to get over that. Unless the launch is elevated, of course.

The name iSpeed makes me want to die.

And the fact it's not the B&M Mega I wanted also makes me sad. I'd have bothered for one of those...

Let's just all pray for Mega-Maverick, shall we?

Do anyone, like I mentioned above, think that Apple has something to do with the name?

And a tophat is mentioned, will this be like Storm Runner then? And what about the speed issue, there's no way that you can climp a 160 ft hill with just 60 mph on your back.

This one is a mystery...

^Point out the mountain... :)

On the other hand, if you are talking trench, I'll happily agree with you.

Thinking a bit, with most of the backing in our recent NoLimits Accelerator competition (wow, reliable source!), I almost feel that this thing will include a Norwegian Loop. It may be my imagination gone sleeping, but I can't imagine a long accelerator with three inversions without one. To all those who have toured the parks of Scandinavia, think of a crossover between Speed Monster and Lisebergbanan.

Anyways, if the stats we have are correct, this will surely be one (hot place) of a ride.

The layout looks pretty damn good. The monorail will give you a pretty awesome view of it. Should get back to Mirabilandia within a few years, so :)

Of course.. that isn't exactly proof of layout.. unless Mirabilandia's maps all are EXACT layouts to all other coasters. ;)

Katun is correct :p And now I'll check the rest because I have nothing better to do, then check maps in my room [/sad]

Quite surprised by the top hat being there. With the LSM being posted on RCDB I was actually thinking "Aquatrax".....seriously

Oh yea, way more excited about this than a B&M mega. Although if they have the best invert, they may have not neutered their mega, as almost all are.
