Is there a god?

What is the general belief on this board? Is there a God? Is there not a God?

What do you think?

(I created this topic to spark debate not arguments so, prewarning lets not have a giant hate filled topic with religious people and atheists Irving their views on each other)

Personally I do believe in God, I just don't believe all this came out of nowhere. I also believe that you can contact the dead so I guess the closest thing I am to a set religion is spiritualism but I don't think my religious views can be described under one set religion.

I'm sure there was a massive topic on this not long ago.

I think that was more broad and just about religion in general?

Anyway, for me, no. However, I respect what other people beleive in.

Most religions are based on a single/multiple Deity(s).. or.. as Christians like to call him/her.. God.

And No.

True, I just mean that the topic in question wasn't as specific as this. I'm probably wrong!

Well, for the most part, if you believe in a God, you have some sort of religion attached to it.

One kinda goes with the other. ;)

My father could give a good three-year lecture about how he does.

However, I stopped believing in imaginary friends, and think that you don't need a God or religion to do good in the world. You just need to will to do good and that's it.

I personally don't, but as soon as someone proves it I'll be happy with it.

define "god"

Surely nature itself is god? Surely we are all our own gods in control of our own destiny? yadda yadda
I'd say that the one thing every religion's view of God has in common is that they humanise it, usually by attributing things like intentions.

In which case nature is not a God by any stretch of the imagination.
