They've also slowed down the lift hill, but with the slowed lift hill and trimmed drop, although you don't get the ejector in the back like you used to, they said it gives a much more enjoyable ride.

You can see the actual fin there.. thanks to KDFansite.

I'm going off of what the ride does, the stats, and simply how fast the train comes into the brakes, when I say that the ride could have been so much more.

How could the ride be so much more? Because of the fact that it did TOO MUCH is why they're spending money to take away some of the stuff it already did enough of. From what I heard from a lot of people (not just KD Fanboys) I've heard this ride did so much that, while others are being whiny bitches and don't know how to <img> ride a roller coasters, the others are almost applauding, and they're not freaking out that the ride might become more enjoyable instead of saying, "OMG it'z not gunna be Intimidating!!!!1!111!" or they ever popular, "I'z not gunna ride InTRIMidator 305 anymore" and stupid crap like that.

If in any way they could've done more (which you have no idea if it did because you haven't ridden it and neither have I but I've heard many reviews, which is what I'm basing this on) please enlighten us.

By "doing TOO MUCH" and "spending money to take away some of the stuff it already did enough of" I assume you are talking about the ride going so fast throughout its layout, that it is causing riders to blackout and is therefore needing trims?

...That's my point. Its speed is too much for its little layout of twists and turns. What I mentioned in my OP is that a smarter idea would be to add some more hills or overbanks; something to burn off speed, so that the whole first drop wouldn't have to be trimmed because the ride is too intense.

But as I said with 13 if you trim the drop then what is the point in building a lift hill that high? If the drop now feels like it does on 13 I would feel let down, it just kills that ride and you can feel it worse than the trims on B&M's.

It is actually one of the worst feelings I have had on a coaster, you can feel the train holding back its not even smooth like at the end of the ride its really stop start start stop :(

No matter how people try to defend this for me its a huge cock up, one that was predicted by a few people on here.

But its probably still better than the **** we have here lol :)

I think the difference from 13 is that they wanted to break the 300' mark with this.

So whose fault is it then: Intamin's for designing/building a layout that they must have known would be too intense for a lot of people, given the speed that the first drop would create, or Kings Dominion for wanting a 300ft coaster, but not wanting to make money (or space) available for a layout that actually suits the sheer size of the first drop?

Snoo, can you point out the brake fins please? Because all I'm seeing is a finless bracket on the right and the lift cable on the left.

Well, don't ask me, just go to KDFansite and take the testimonials of the dozens of people who have been on it and seen the brake fins mounted. ;)

I went on KDs yesterday and Kyle said they've slowed it down. So that's another testimonial.

I wasn't impressed with it at all. The best parts are the neck breaking turns towards the end and the last two bunny hops are pretty good I guess. It's stunning to look at, but that first drop is so unbelievably forceless and utterly boring.

It made me black out on the turn after the first drop, as it seems to with everyone. My vision went from the bottom up. Was like when you film a tv screen and you get black horizontal lines going up it. Also gave me a really bad headache on my second ride.

The speed of the lift is incredible, takes 10 seconds to climb it.

The only thing you'll get at KDFansite right now is bitching and moaning. But yes there are trims Kevin. They're just hard to see at that angle.

It happens Chris.. what more do you expect on a park specific website? You should have seen the CP fanboy sites when Maverick was delayed/cut off the best element.

^You've got a point there. Maybe cuz I'm not used to park specific websites. Well at least there are some people (the most dedicated people to the site) are looking at the bright side.

I just rode Intimidator 305, and they added a slight trim near the beginning of the drop. It increases the length and airtime of the first drop, and has little effect on the rest of the ride.

This doesn't seem to take away from the intensity of the ride at all, but adds more airtime to the drop.

This video shows how much slower it goes over the first drop and how much slower it travels over the 150 ft. hill

Well one of the main reasons for the trim is because of the blackouts, but as a lot of people have recently pointed out, these seem to prolong the blackouts, while making the better, latter parts of the ride really slow. In a way I support it, but in a way I don't.

I can't get over how forceless the ride feels, but yet it clearly isn't forceless, because of the blacking out. In fact, on my first ride, I blacked out briefly a second time before the two later hills.

I can only assume it's because the periods of heavy gs are prolonged and increase gradually, and so go unnoticed until your vision goes. There are no rapid changes from positive to negative gs.

I can't say I noticed any airtime worth mentioning. You spend the entire first hill concerned over when your vision will return to normal/intrigued by the lack of vision and so miss it entirely. Maybe after I've ridden it more this will change?

I blame Intamin 100% as they should have said it cannot be done, they need to sort out their computers that work out the speed and force etc.

What do people mean when they say airtime on a drop? People have said this about 13 as well but to me its just you out your seat against the lap bar or what ever due to the trim holding the train back. That to me is not airtime, that is coming out your seat and is more like hang time but its not if you know what I mean.

^The lift would take you over the drop faster than most lifts and therefore it gave a little pop of airtime. I think.

EDIT: This came in from TPR:

Dude from TPR said:
"I got 5 rides in today and it is a bummer that the best part of the ride is gone. Luckily you still get thrown off the top so there is still airtime on the hill but you fall into the harness on the way down.
I did not grey out every time but 2 of the rides I started to before the rise.
The 2nd hill is the biggest loser of this event, you do get a little floater in the front but nothing like it was
The rise before the turns only gave me airtime in the front
"Twistys" were still good just a little slower

Now for the GOOD news! Almost all the trims have been removed off of the 75ft hill (2 small ones still at the top) so there is much more airtime on this hill and the following hill and the back half is actually faster now.

MORE good news they did some tests with the new Strap restraints with maint. and Intamin engineers and KD decided to switch to them and my reliable source said both trains should be upgraded within the next 2 weeks.

I did love the intensity of old I305 and the insane speed but it is nice to have a more re-ridable ride now.

Plus all my rides were pretty much in the morning so the trains had not been warmed up fully yet but usually it gets faster as the day moves on.

It is still a world class ride and most of the comments I overheard from the GP were the same "that was really fast but it hurt my neck"

They ran the red train 10 times before switching it out due to a bad wheel but after that there were a lot of minor downtime with the cable and the staging of the train (only running 1 on Friday) I left at 1pm

I hope this clears up some of the speculation.

JEFF"
