What's new

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland 2012/13

The 'Deep Impact' miami (Mannings) is also rumoured to be attending, along with the Avalanche waltzer. In addition to this the Dodgems (Penguine Party) will be in that section of the park, and that's it for the Alpine Adventure this year. :)

I second the Alpen Hotel as worth doing - glad to see it's back. It's very home made and well, just odd really!

Early on in this thread someone mentioned singing chickens? Are they back, I want to find out what the hell that was all about.

Sad not to see the return of black hole and those amazing dragon cars, but excited for the big wild mouse.

What's the opening date?

Oh Sue you derp, today is opening day! Will be there next week to see how it is this year, see if the Booster's actually any good...and of course do the amazing Air.

I'm glad you share my appreciation for the Blackhole dragon orgy. I'd rather have that than the Banking Crisis. Wait, that can stay, they have two Wild Mouse coasters this year (one spinner, the other XXL), the spinner needs to bore off.

I've just had two rather good visits to Winter Wonderland today and yesterday - it is much better laid out and also is probably double the size it was last year. The Wilde Maus XXL is brilliant and one of the highlights as is Air of course and Mannings Afterburner Show Time. I can confirm that Deep Impact Miami is back this year although I haven't been on it.

I'll probably make another visit before the end but I think it'll be after Christmas :)

If it was not pissing down with rain we were going to look at it today, but we got totally soaked so gave it a miss :(. Probably would not have ridden due to marks ribs.

There isn't a spinning mouse this year...

Here's a few pics from the preview night:

It looks like a massive improvement on last year!

Now that looks good! I was expecting it to be mainly rides all packed in next to each other, but there looks to be a lot of space between with the cafes being nicely themed.

Ok, so that Alpine Coaster thing is actually that old London Coaster (or whatever it was called) thing from the O2?

To clarify with coasters:

Inverted mouse thing (eurocoaster?)
Wild Mouse XXL
Alpine Coaster (old London Coaster)
Reindeer big apple thing

Correct?

^ Yeah, it's the one from the o2.

It was also at LWV before that, so if anyone did it there and doesn't count relocations, spiteeee.

I did it at LWV but didn't do it at the o2 so I think it's semi reasonable to count it again. If I'd also done it at the o2 I think counting it again would be pushing it though... haha!

^I've never done it anywhere, so can count it with a clear conscience, along with the XXXXXXLLLLLL Mouse.

**** the inverted mouse (though I found it quite fun to be fair) and reindeer big apple though. Gotthecredz.

Yeah, the RCT Inverted Hairpin Coaster is secretly amazing <3. But yeah, screw forking out for it again <///3.

I need to figure out when I'm actually going to go...

^Come to the Mean Girls quotealong. I'm planning to head to Hyde Park in the afternoon (getting into London around lunchtime I think) and I'm sure a few others will be up for it.

Never seen the place so empty in those photos haha. Usually it's just a huge river of pushchairs and slow walking people taking up the whole path.

I think the reason it looks empty is because the event is so much better laid out this year and with the addition of it being larger, gives guests more freedom. Having said that, both times I went it was very busy but had a great atmosphere :)
