Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland has started for 2011!

The A-Z ride list is yet to be published on www.hydeparkwinterwonderland.com, but this year there are two 'big roller coasters' including one which has 'never been seen before'. Plus Samsung Galaxy Ice Rink, Zippos Christmas Circus, Zippos Cirque Extreme, giant observation wheel, Santa Land and Angels Christmas Market.

I've no idea what it's going to be like price-wise, I'm expecting it to be quite steep, but I've never visited before so I can't really say. I'm planning on making my first visit on 18th December, so I should come back with a trip report.

Please share what you think - and if you know anything about the ride line up, this new roller coaster in particular, please share it!

Before anyone gleefully jumps in screaming "WE'VE GOT A TOPIC ON THIS!!!", that topic was tacked on to something completely unrelated and became confusing.

I was actually going to start a separate topic for the Hyde Park thing, so it's saved me the effort.

So far, we know there's a Reverchon spinning mouse, which is probably the "never before seen" thing. Highly disappointing if that's the case. I'd imagine the other "big" coaster is that suspended wild mouse thing again.

Well, you learn something new every day, I never knew there was even such thing as an inverted Wild Mouse. I agree that it would be a little disappointing if both 'big roller coasters' were different varieties of the Wild Mouse.

The full ride list is due to be released soon, so for now let's just keep our fingers crossed.

^And what an 800th post it was!

The inverted mouse is called Eurocoaster I think? Something like that anyway. It's like that "hairpin coaster" thing on RCT if that's any frame of reference. It's quite fun actually.

I don't actually know that it will be there, but if they're saying that there are two big coasters, and one of them is the "new" spinner, then it's a decent enough guess.

*Guess* Was it another Reverchon?
I know I did actually experience it, at great expense, at the fair back in 2009. It was... interesting to say the least, but not something I'd repeat in a hurry!
It'd be nice if they found something a bit different this time around.

Bingo on both accounts.

I still think it looks quite interesting though, that inverted ghost train is back, as well as Power Tower and 'Air' is there for the first time too. I've never been before so I am looking forward to it.

The ghost train is terrible, which is a shame since it looks great from the outside. Nothing really happens inside though; it's such a waste.

I never bothered with the drop tower last time, so it may be worth a go. I seem to remember it being the most expensive thing there though?

To be honest, I think the overall atmosphere of the place far outweighs the generally crappy rides anyway. I'm not really a "Christmas" person, but it is really nice there if you manage to avoid it when it's too crowded.

I've never been on an inverted ghost train before. With the right theming and effects, it would be a much more frightening experience with the fact that you're more exposed to the ride.

^ Well, I'm definately going to give it a go this year. I'm visiting London on the 18th. It's a beautiful place to be at Christmas, pretty much anywhere you go.

I've never been on that ghost train, but I had heard good things about it.... There's also some Pirate Adventure dark ride thing as well, anyone been on that?

And with that Power Tower, it is a controlled drop, which would put me off, but it seems just SO big, and it lasts like 7 minutes, so it must be worth a go.

I'm just REALLY disappointed that the Black Hole coaster has been replaced by a Spinning Mouse for this year :(

The inverted ghost train is actually pretty cool, it has some good effects in there, they do make use of the fact that the track is above you rather than below, and there are a couple of "coming up to you" type effects.

There's also a really cool animatronic man on the front facade of the ride, watch him for a while, it's worth it! :)

I'd probably be holding my legs up the whole way round! :p

It's quite difficult to work out what the rides are like from the map. I think I'll just go for the thrill rides plus the Giant Wheel. It should be easier to work out when they've actually released the ride list, which, tbhwy, I believe they should have done at least a few days before the event started.

The Pirates Adventure was quite fun. Did that last year. The inverted ghost train was rubbish apparently when my dad and brother did it a few years ago. I wish they'd bring Spuk back as that looked amazing but I couldn't afford to go on it after the coasters. :(

Spuk was just a GIANT Ghost Train which covered several floors and had effects like fire and massive animatronics. You can see it at 3:22 in this video.
