How do LIM launches/anti-rollback systems work?

Asking to get more information on Volcano: The Blast Coaster and also possible maintenance issues caused by these systems.

This question does pop up every now and again, and I tend to refer to a post I wrote some years back: http://coasterforce.com/forums/threads/lim-vs-lsm.36578/#post-871057

In terms of how the braking works in a rollback scenario on Volcano - one of two things (taking a stab, haven't done any research). Either they've got some sort of UPS (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninterruptible_power_supply) which would provide power in the event of a power failure to allow the LIMs to be reversed for braking. This kind of system is used throughout the world in data centres and life safety equipment in buildings - all of which need extremely high reliability and so this technology is very well understood and tested. Other option is that there are some permanent brakes (magnetic or friction, I suppose) in the launch track somewhere that would activate and bring the train to a stop.
