House Swapping

Firstly I'd like to say that I do not own a house so this discussion is completely theoretical for me at this time...

My girlfriend has just had some Canadians move in next to her for a week. They've done a house swap for a free UK holiday. House Swapping is getting very popular, it seems.

Now I think I live in quite a dense coaster area of the world, I'm 40 mins from Thorpe and Legoland, 1:10 from Chessie, 2 from Drayton and 2:30 from Alton. Also Paultons is about an hour down the road. And one day i think a Swap for an American house in Florida or the east coast sounds like a great way for two coaster enthusiasts to experience parks around the world.

What do you think of this idea? Would you consider it? What parks would you have to offer near your place and where would you like to go? Hell, if you want, actually set up a swap, I'd love to know how it all goes.

Bear in mind I am in no position to actually do this right now.

To hell with that!

I don't want anyone other than potential sex in my bed. Also, don't want them raiding my Mac and music gear, ergh... No way.

How about just playing along with the topic? It's not as if it's going to happen, but at least it's a creative topic idea. Better than rubbing one out over a new signpost for the toilets at Cedar Point.

Very theoretical, since I'm leaving in a week anyway, but anyone staying in my apartment would be:

15-20 minute bus ride to Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea
25 minute subway ride to Tokyo Dome
25 minute subway ride to Hanayashiki
35 minute subway ride to Aqua Stadium
50 minute subway ride to Sega Joypolis
50 minute subway/train to Yokohama Cosmo World
1 hour subway ride to Toshimaen
1 hour 20 minutes subway/train to Tobu Zoo
1 hour 20 minutes subway/train to Yomiuriland
1 hour 30 minutes subway/train to Sea Paradise
about 2 hours subway/bus to Fuji Q

I would be willing to give this up in exchange for a place to stay in the North Wales area, with access to Rhyl Promenade and Tir Prince.

Oh, wait....

Sounds liek a good idea actually! When we were in Florida, we hired someones apartment which was so much nicer than a hotel.

heh... at least one person is willing to play along! Gavin's place sounds like a great place for a coaster holiday. No need to hire a car with the Japanese public transport system.

And for all you cynics; I guess you'd set up a locked room, my music studio, and move your precious stuff in there for the week, that's what I'd do, I think.

10 minute walk from a derelict theme park.
15 minute walk from a Gypsy owned funfair
40 minutes away from a park not likely to be open in a few years (Camelot)
60 minutes away from a terrible seaside park (Blackpool)

Lose/Lose situation? :p

It's just that I'm quite protective of my stuff. I can't even handle somebody in my room while I nip to the loo or something. I'm a little selfish when it comes to things like that.
