High School returns 4 Musical

It may not be aimed for me but I still hate it because of the hype about it... Especially with everyone swooning over Zac Efron...

Plus I still have memories of AJ showing me him wearing the outfit over MSN that time... Even if I wanted to see it that put me off forever

I love how everyone that hates High School Musical completely and utterly misses the point of the films.

That's the point. Disney have marketed HSM to the skies of tackyness. The songs are REALLY crap, and the entire concept is annoying as a mosquito in your tent. Heck, it's "Boy meets girl, add rivals, sing crap songs, happy ending for everyone". It's not exactly original, and neither are the classic Disney films (they are either based on books or fairytales), but Disney usually manages to pull that off well. It's just not to point it out to everyone, and let the films live on reputation alone. Which they in most cases have done brilliantly.

It's the fact that those characters are everywhere, and that the films are over-commercialised to the point of no "happy ever after". People start hating HSM even without knowing the concept of the films. The adverts are annoying, the music is bad, and yet worse, it's everywhere, and completely overshadows the Disney people love and remember. People who haven't seen the films only associate HSM with one thing: annoying!

Coupled by the fact it was badly dubbed in Norwegian as well Erl?

Personally I don't really care.

It's not my type of movie. So I just avoid it. If it's on I'll change the channel.

Same with that other one they made.

Oh COME ON!

Just like Disney...or any major movie company. Milk the cash cow till it's dry...

I have tbh I really do like the films, they are what they are. Fun happy and tbh yes they do have a story and you do end up getting into them. 2 song from the 3 films make me cry I find them very deep.

Now the stage show was a different matter, I think they simply made a mistake with a few of the cast which so happened to be the lead person lol.

HSM has got kids back into seeing shows so thats great and how Disney are ripping off kids I will never know. As Mark said the first 2 films were free to watch on TV. And if you bother to read up about it you will know that Disney never expected HSM to do so well.

If you dont like it dont watch it simple really :)

I could say Harry Potter films rip kids off using your logic ciallkennett :)

I knew it. I knew they couldn't leave it alone. They will kill like they did with American Pie. I will probably go and see it though because since actually watching the 1st HSM at Christmas I kind of like it.

I'd like to know how many of the people who claim to hate the series have actually seen them. I havce a feeling it wont be many.

Some of the replies in this topic are rediculous.

"OMFG!! Disney your ripping off kids!!!"

Please...

I've seen them all. They're enjoyable and not as bad as people say. I don't get why people say things like they'd rather die than watch it and stuff as they obviously need to sort out their priority's.
It's not amazing but it's hardly un-watchable.

Also, as a note. I don't think HSM4 is a cinema release, I think it is just another Disney channel Tv Movie....

I wouldn't rather die, but I'd rather watch a good musical, instead of some Disney hash.
