Today Hersheypark announced details of its new-for-2025 Twizzlers Twisted Gravity attraction. At 137 feet (41.75 m), it will be the tallest S&S Screamin' Swing in the world. Riders will soar high above Spring Creek in The Hollow region of the park at speeds up to 68 mph (109 km/h). Guests can sit in one of four branded zones across two gondolas, featuring the Twizzlers Strawberry, Cherry, Hershey’s Chocolate and Black Licorice-flavored designs.

2 things:

1. For some reason I read that as S&S Sky Swat and got really stupidly excited for about 3 seconds.

2. How long are we giving it until like every other Screamin' Swing in the US, it starts running with only 1 arm?

I give hope - Skyhawk at CP (which I believe holds the current height record?) still has regular 2 arm operation.

As much as I want to hate these sky swings, enticed by the far more fun to watch pendulum rides; dang it, these still give such a fun ride! Neat to see Hershey adding as solid new flat option.

1 arm operation? Then I have to think about the Screaming Swing that KBF used to have. That was one with only one arm.

Don't get me wrong, Screamin' Swings are one of my favourite flat ride types. But seeing the ones at BGW, BGT and Dollywood all operating just one side made me question their reliability to operate at full capacity consistently!

Serengeti Flyer at Busch Gardens Tampa was running both arms on the one occasion I did it, although it was admittedly still “new for 2023” then. Rush at Thorpe Park also usually seems to run both arms, from my experience.

I’m glad to see Screamin’ Swings still popping up! I’m not a huge lover of flat rides on the whole, but I do love a good S&S Screamin’ Swing! Serengeti Flyer is amazing, and even the smaller Rush at Thorpe Park is great fun! I’m sure this will be a really fun addition to Hersheypark, particularly seeing as it’s a massive one like Serengeti Flyer!
