Hersheypark lists Roller Soaker for sale

RCDB says it's defunct. It must be gone already. I never rode it. I haven't been to Hershey in a LONG time. Last time was in 2002. Roller Soaker was closed for some reason.

^You didn't miss out. Long wait for an anti-climactic ride and ice cold water

I didn't hate it enough to join in with the "glad it's gone" crowd. To be honest it's better than a stupid water playground thing.

It's just not worth the queuing time though. It was the longest queue we had in the whole park (I think close to 90 minutes actually), and while it was something different for me, it's not something I'd be bothered about ever riding again.

Whatever basically. I'm not glad it's gone, but I'm not exactly going to cry myself to sleep either.

Roller Soaker is being scrapped and recycled, not sold according to this article:

This summer, rumors surfaced that Hersheypark was selling the Roller Soaker on a Rides4U website for an asking price of $799,000. However, Burrows said at the time that the coaster was not for sale.

In fact, Aycock in Hummelstown is in the process of removing the Roller Soaker and will recycle as much as the metal as possible, Burrows said.

The ride is being replaced by a 5000ft[super]2[/super] "sprayground" water play area.

If we saw there were obtainable genuine spare parts for Roller Soaker, then they would've changed minds. :(

As Gavin pointed out, the wait time was ridiculous when I rode it, but it also broke down like twice too. It did get really long queues but both times we went to Hershey for a CF-Live, we always had a really good time with the cannons and stuff. So apart from the wait time and the reliability, it was still a decent bit of fun.

I think it was just a poor decision to install it in the first place to be fair. It's got a **** capacity and was aimed at both the amusement park and water park guests. The combination was just atrocious.

See I thought that sounded a good idea, on paper at least. It's just that the ride has a crap layout and is apparently always breaking. I've only been on it once and got stuck for like 10 minutes (technically it's my only ever ride evacuation as they had to use some mini steps so that I could get down from the car in the station, lols!)
