Good ol' PTC Woodies

Philadelphia Toboggan Company wooden coasters are classics. In this thread, discuss your favorite PTC woodies here.

I'll start off with my first ever cred, Yankee Cannonball.

A small old little woodie that has a ton of airtime for a coaster that only goes 35 mph. The speed doesn't seem to let up. The chain lift is also a very nostalgic sound IMO. Second best woodie I've ridden (i haven't been on that many woodies ;))

I also kinda think the layout looks kinda crooked (I know the coaster was shortened when it was moved to Canobie)

LOVE me some Yankee Cannonball! Even after some 745 coasters / 137 wood! And I still have so much love for this ride!

While its not the best, its still a favorite of mine and I'd be happy riding it vs any other coaster I've been on.

I like Comet when the trim doesn't drag, but I think it could be even better if the trim got removed.

Thunderhawk's little bunny hill has given me bruises on my thighs due to how much pop it has and the seatbelts.

Blue Streak can be hit or miss from the 4 circuits I took on it, sometimes it's crap with little/no airtime and other times you can't keep yourself in the seat.

More love for Yankee Cannonball here. It was my first wooden coaster and have been on it tons of times. I love Thunderbolt at Six Flags New England and Comet at Hersheypark. Most of all Phoenix<3 is amazing. As for others I hate Wildcat at Lake Compounce, Blue Streak and Thunderhawk at Dorney. Non-wood Black Diamond is a +1 at best.

Always good fun! At quick glance on RCDB.com I have been on 11 PTC (not including twins). They are scattered throughout my rankings of 55 wooden coasters.

Blue Streak at Cedar Point is always a favorite.

Racer at Kings Island and Screamin' Eagle at SFSt.Louis are also great rides.

I've been on thirteen of them, but Phoenix, which is fantastic, is the only one that really stands out. None of the others were necessarily bad, just pretty mediocre.

I've only been on two, Comet and Blue Streak. Both were fun, but Blue Streak was the better of the two for me, really enjoyed it.

Been on a few

Rebel yell - kings dominion - meh (I was suffering coaster overload by then, but can remember all the KD woodies were rather meh)
Thunderhawk - Dorney - Rough as heck
Wildcat - Lake Compounce - I know a lot of people complain about this one, but I found it pretty good fun - although I was on the middle seat of one of the cars, so that may have helped
Woodstock Express - Kings Dominion - a fun enough kiddie coaster
Phoenix - Knoebels - Yeah!!
Blue Streak - Cedar Point - great fun!
Comet - Hersheypark - enjoyed all their woodies
Black Diamond - Knoebels

Others that I have been on:

Blue Streak - first time I rode this was at 10:01 PM, right when the park closed. It was awesome!
Thunderbolt - Rode this two times. The first ride was great, but the second time I wasn't in the backrow, so it was alright.
Wildcat - ehh. Very rough, no airtime.

Going back through, I have ridden 8 PTCs total:

Blue Streak - Cedar Point
Comet - Waldameer
Comet - Hersheypark
Racer - Kings Island
Thunderhawk - Dorney Park
Woodstock Express - Kings Island
Screamin' Eagle - Six Flags St. Louis
Great American Scream Machine - Six Flags Over Georgia

I haven't been on very many...

Wildcat, Lake Compounce- definitely not a fan
Thunderhawk, Dorney- didn't like it at all
Blue Streak, Cedar Point- enjoyable, but wasn't particularly interesting either
Comet, Hershey- too long ago to remember

EDIT: forgot Thunder Road at Carowinds.

I think I have only ridden wildcat at LC. This is my least favourite woodie because it is boring and very rough. However I will not use it to judge other PTC woodies.
