Gallows tomorow night and then Alestorm and TYR on Sunday night. It is going to be one hell of a weekend. On sunday me and my mates are going dressed as pirates. That's going to get some funny looks on the tube.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got a ticket to go and see Graham Coxon in Brighton tonight! He's my absolute HERO and I absolutely CAN'T WAIT! 
HURRAH!
Plus, this new album promises to be more like his first solo offering, which means I'm much more likely to enjoy it than all the shouty stuff he's been doing for the last few years.

I saw Graham Coxon when he supported Hard Fi at Brighton. Was random yet good.
All I can remember was him singing some song called 'What the **** you lookin' at?' or something :lol:

After I got over the fact of feeling 15 again, and being in the same room as my hero for the first time in 8 years, it was a great gig. I was about 4 rows back, bang in the middle. Graham started out very nervous and got more confident as the night went on... which is usual! I love the new material. Its mostly acoustic, but he proved he can still shred it up with the best of them. His singing voice hasn't got any better over the years though! hehe
There were a couple of slightly bizarre moments. Firstly, some woman sparked up halfway through the gig and got dragged out by security. Then, just before the final song, I heard a "STEPHEN!", so felt duty bound to reply*. This confused Graham, and 99% of the audience, and made me look a tit. Oh, then there was an awkward 2 mins or so when it wasn't obvious if he was coming out for a 2nd encore or not. The lights and music didn't come back on, so everyone started shouting again. Eventually, the music came back on and that was that

Anyway that was quite a weekend. I did an early shift at work so we could get to Brighton before the shops closed. I still didn't really have enough time to get any clothes so I did that Sunday morning in Hastings instead.
Anyway when we arrived at Concorde2 there was hardly anyone there and we got in the front row. Blackhole opened at were pretty good. The singer was in the crowd the whole time running around and singing in peoples faces before getting back on stage.
Next was Rolo Tomasi. The most God awful band I have ever heard. The only thing I can describe them as is Mario Metal. Listen and you will see why. It is a shame because Eva Spence has a nice voice (when she isn't screaming like a cat with it's dick caught in sandwhich toaster.
Gallows were WICKED. It was rowdy as hell. There were people swinging from beams in the ceiling. In the 3rd song Frank leapt into the crowd. A couple of songs in someone started a fight and got kicked out, after which Frank said they were a "c*nt". That got a few cheers.
There were wicked circle pits and one imploded meaning I got floored and someone ran across my face. I swallowed part of my tooth! I got to crowd surf later, right to the front and over the barrier.
Awesome night all in all apart from some chav trying to start on my when I was waiting for the train back in Eastbourne.
Alestorm review will come later when I have the time.

Eva Spence has an absolutely cracking voice when she sings normally.
Rolo Tomassi make an absolute racket, and its not one I find pleasing on the ears.
But... they do make some really ****ing unique music. It might not be to a lot of peoples' tastes (it obviously is to some though, there's quite a buzz) but god its unique. Yes, its quite obviously metal, but there's so many influences crammed into there too, possibly too many influences!
It still throws me off when someone as pretty and, well, normal-looking as Eva Spence gets the death growls out. It sort of scares me!

Rammstein has confirmed a Europe tour! SO hopefully they will announce some UK dates soon!
Fingers crossed on those Rammstein dates. Their pyrotechnics are something of a legend.
Also I don't think anyone likes Alestorm for their musical ability, or more accuratley lack of it. But it isn't half a laugh singing songs called "Wenches & Mead" and waving plasitc cutlasses...or is the plural cutli? :?
