Future of Wooden Roller Coasters

Before delving too far into hypotheticals, might I remind folks that launched wooden coasters have yet to make it past the wet dreams of coaster enthusiasts.

^Didn't GCI or GG display the concept at IAPPA a couple of years ago, including a model and video?

Still far from being a reality, but certainly currently more than just enthusiasts' musings.

I can only see a launched woodie being any good if you were staying low to the ground and travelling through a forest or something where you can have a lot of near misses. I think it'd be pretty useless as a parking lot coaster or somewhere where there is a lot of empty space.

Otherwise why not just build steel and have a smoother experience where you can push the boundaries a lot easier?

The biggest reason is similar to that of steel launches - space.

You can get a launch coaster into a layout in a much shorter initial space than a traditional lift hill.
