Freestyle Music Park/Hard Rock Park to Re-Open!?!?!

This is the best thread I've read in ages.

I think it should be pinned to the top of the forum for all to see.

I'm loving what I'm seeing of these proposals so far, and the new advert/flyer with the monkey is really getting me all excited to visit once the park reopens. I'm trying to make plans for next summer, and Myrtle Beach has jumped right to the top of the list!

I'd love to be able to help. As far as work on the actual park goes, I can highly recommend this company when it comes to overall design and management strategies: Click here

Since animals will feature prominently in the new park (I'm already envisioning a rival to Busch Gardens!), you might want to take a look at these people: Click Here. When I was thinking of setting up my own animal park, their expertise proved to be invaluable.

Planned new attractions.
-Jetski Coaster
-Halfipe Coaster
-Intamin multi inversion coaster
-Impulse
-Twist and Turn Coaster
-Zacspin
-Drop Tower
-Round-up
-Spinning Star Ride
-Suspended Twin Hammer
-Revolution 32
-Delirium
-Jump2
-Suspended Topspin
-Observation Tower
-Toppe Tower
-Dark boat ride
-EMV dark ride
-Supersplash
-Giant Ferris Wheel
-Screamin Swing
-Chance Wipeout

Why would you have a revolution and a giant frisbee in the same park?

Also, the cost of building the new attractions would be larger than the original construction cost of the park.

The more I read about this, the less it seems thought out (Other than going to the Intamin/Huss/Chance websites and scrolling through the catalogue).
Just seems like wanting to own and design a big theme park with 100% of other peoples money.

The thing is, the more you look at this, it's obviously just a fantasist. It needs to die a quick death this topic before it get's even more embarrassing.

I know you sent me this as a PM, but people need to keep up with conversations.

"Where's the official page giving all the details? Where's the description of the plans? Where is your time line for things to happen? Just anything at all beyond something any one of us here could produce in practically no time."

Currently it is still in development with Adobe Dreamweaver as I'm doing it all myself so far at this point.

I don't want to get into nitty-gritty really considering how much of the big picture is missing, but just a holding page or two on an official domain name is all that is required to add the smallest amount of legitimacy to your "plans".

The biggest problem follows:

The same rides we have come to love at the park will remain, along with several new being added, I will first go off and list the current rides that are there that will be removed and the remainder is what will stay before further sharing my plans for Outback Oasis Park.

To be removed:
-Origins - A film presentation showing the history of rock n roll and how it is intertwined with theme parks. The Origins theater was located in the front, entrance area, of the park.
-Roadies Stunt Show - A twist on the popular stunt show concept with rock and roll 'roadies' as characters. This show featured many 'cirque'-type elements and numerous pyrotechnic effects.
-Country on the Rocks - A rock themed ice show.
-Muddin' Monster Race (Huss Rides) - A spinning, swinging monster-truck-themed ride.[11]
-London Cab Ride (Huss Rides) -A heavily themed scrambler-type Huss Break Dance IV.

Shows:
-Bohemian Rhapsody - A nighttime show held over the lagoon, set to the classic song by Queen. The show featured fountains, fireworks and a laser-light show displayed from the top of the giant Gibson Guitar icon.
-Malibu Beach Party - A live-action comedy show set to all the great beach classics and some modern day pop songs. A cast of dancers and swimmers danced, dove, performed stunts on motorcycles and interacted with the crowd in a lakefront/poolside amphitheater.

Roller Coasters

-Led Zeppelin - The Ride (Bolliger & Mabillard)
-Maximum RPM! (Premier Rides)
-Eagles-Life in the Fast Lane (Vekoma)- Formerly known as Midnight Rider
-Slippery When Wet (Premier Rides)
-Shake Rattle 'n' Rollercoaster (Vekoma)

Other rides

-All the King's Horses - A classic Merry Go Round.
- Monstars of Rock
-Magic Mushroom Garden (Huss Rides) - A Scrambler-style ride featuring the "World's largest blacklight poster."[11]
-Just a Swingin' - A Wave Swinger-type ride.
-Banana Splitsville
-Live Amphitheater
-Phonehenge
-Alice's Restaurant

I have contacted Intamin Worldwide, Chance Morgan, Engineering Excitement, & Sally Corp for new rides, I am overall shooting to add over 30 rides combined from those 4 developers within the first couple of years with the park re-opening. Depending on how the funding goes I might be able to have 3-4 added before the time of the official re-opening and the rest will be added in as the park progresses forward.

The park hours will be from 10am-12am M-Sat and from 10am-10pm on Sunday. During our Carnifest Halloween season the park hours will be extended up until 1 am. There will be an event from September-October 31st called Carnifest and there will be scares to be haunted by throughout the entire park as well as live performances by the Insane Clown Posse to help add to the Haunted Carnival feel.
I really don't see what you mean the cohesion isn't there, the idea is an Outback Oasis a park that has a little bit of everything but enough of everything to stand out on its own. My wife is majoring and close to completing her B,S. in Zoology and is going to be one of the head Zookeepers to tend to the animals.

We will have wildlife from the abroad but mainly from the Outback. Animals will include but will not be limited to: Kangaroos,Wallaby's,Lemurs,Indris,Spotted Cuscus,Koalas, Wallaroo's,Tasmanian Pandemelon's, Sugar Gliders, Giraffe's, Zebras, Okapi,Pygmy Marmosets, and Chimpanzees. There will more than likely be an on-site Outback Steakhouse as well.

Many of the rides that are going to be introduced like the Jet SKi Coaster, the Surfrider, Delirium, & the Suspended Top Spin will give visitors a true Oasis feel because they can enjoy getting wet while enjoying the rides. The observation tower is going to give a grand view of Myrtle Beach.

Wow, you've really got a lot of detail about where you want things to be, but it's got absolutely no foundations.

Here is the cohesion issue. Your plan is currently:

1. Sit in a dark corner of the internet and beg for money
2. Use begged for money to get feasibility study produced
3. Use feasibility study to beg for money
4. Use begged for money to produce all of the above quoted.

You have a very detailed final plan, and you have a plan for a feasibility study, but there nothing to bind the entire thing together. There's no work through or step process or anything that leads from one place to another.

It's the equivalent of standing on a street corner begging, so you can afford a guitar that (even though you can't play guitar) will lead to you becoming the next Led Zeppelin. You know what outfits you'll wear, what concerts you'll play, how many tracks per album - all you need is that money to buy the stuff you need to make it happen.

Here is the way it actually needs to work. I've not done a feasibility study, but I can still work out a plan and the feasibility study may or nay not be required.

1. Have this wonderful idea you're exceptionally passionate about.
2. Access the accounts of both Hard Rock Park and Freestyle Music Park (their parent companies will have filed accounts, you may have to pay to gain access to them).
3. Use the accounts to work out a rough idea of operating costs - utilities, maintenance, staffing, investment in produce and merchandise, etc. It will all be there in the accounts and you can get an idea then of a rough yearly operating cost.
4. Use the accounts to work out rough inbound figures for guests. Work out a cost per head (you can over inflate if you believe that you can bring something special to the park, feel free to double intake figures if you really believe you can make a go of this).
5. Do the math. How much do you need to buy the park and attractions? How much do you need to run it for a year? Probably double the buy in cost to give you a "get operational" cost. How many years will it take at your projected visitor number figures to pay back the initial investment and run the park in profit (or at least break even) for that time period?
6. Is this feasible? If the figures look good on paper then move to step 7. If not, give up now.
7. Write a report based on your research above and project the potential future operational and expansion plans for the park.
8. Set up a website and have the details of your report available in a well presented format.
9. Create a presentation based in these projections and arrange meetings with local businesses and entrepreneurs.
10. Get yourself in the local press and on the media outlets saying you're doing this. Exposure, exposure, exposure
11. Invest personally. You can't ask others to invest if you're not willing to take risks yourself. Offer to invest 50% of the initial money yourself (re-motgage your house, take loans, etc.). If you have tied up your own cash, then people will follow that and a good business plan.
12. Ask for initial investment in a full feasibility study from local sources. If you've got all of the above right and perfected, then you should be able to secure some.
13. Ask publicly for help to cover any short fall. Again, if you've got everything above right then people will invest. They need to see that it's worth investing in though (that you've done the math), that there are others also investing and most importantly, that you are financially committed.
14. Get the feasibility study done. If the study comes back as being truly feasible, then move on to 15. Otherwise, give up now.
15. Try to find investors. Investors won't just want a feasibility study though, they'll want to know what commitment you have (personal investment), what skill set you have and experience in running a multi-million pound business investment (a theme park would help, but what experience you have generally running a complex business model) and, most importantly, what is their payback? Most investors will want to see, I don't know? 20-40% return on investment over 5 years or so? On this kind of scheme, they may stretch to 10 years. So whatever they invest, they will expect to have all of that money back, plus 20-40% on top within 5-10 years. You may want to revisit that feasibility study at this point.
16. If you can secure investment then you can start the actual project and at that point start to get into the list of stuff you have above I quoted. Look at the numbers given to you and work out your reinvestment strategy etc, etc ,etc. That stuff is all at the feasibility study stage or later.

Plans for rides, animals, kennels (wtf? seriously before even knowing how much it costs to run a restaurant in the park, you're looking at what perks to offer guests), shows, etc are all completely secondary to the initial requirement of "could I run this park in profit as it is now?"

Until you know that (something you can do at a small personal expense), then nothing else is even worth thinking about.

Until a Feasibility study is conducted I really don't see how you expect me to have a timeline for things to get done, I can make one up but that doesn't guarantee it's set in stone not even when official parks set dates they are subject to change so I really don't see why that's important at the start-up stage.

Banks won't even give you a loan without a business plan and many Small businesses pay professional consulting firms for a business plan, Theme parks are no different.

Timeline?

Week 1-2: examine accounts of the two failed businesses.
Week 2-3: work out the figures and produce your own initial feasibility study
Week 4: produce presentation
etc, etc, etc.

You don't have a plan so far, just an end dream. Once you have a plan (I've given you one), you can produce a (rough) time line for things to happen.

If it's all taking too long because there is just you, then enlist your friends and family to help. Get people to believe in your cause because it has substance and commitment, not because you have a fantastic dream.

Please .... I couldn't even get through half of it before I gave up :/ Stupid idea, no plan, and overall not that good of a park...

Can I just go ahead & lock this already?

Please don't! As a recent college graduate, I thoroughly enjoyed reading furie's advice on how to get your $hit together... there's no telling what knowledge he will dispense next if this thread continues :P
