Flamingoland Rumours

Just seen this over at TT:

I went to Flamingo Land yesterday and noticed on the park map that there is a label just below the Wagon Wheel ride saying "Awesome new ride due summer 2012" and over on the site of the old Corkscrew there was another label saying "unmissable new experience coming soon ... Watch our website for details"

Does anyone know if a copy of this has found its way online yet? The website is still showing an old one, and a quick google hasn't turned anything up.

The thread over at TT seems to be full of activity. Here's the park map:

And going by what has been said by Nathan on TT (could be the same Nathan from here?), its apparently going to be a Zamperla Vertical Swing, which is basically a Star Flyer, but a bit smaller.

I hope thats true to be honest, we need some of them over here.

Oh, ****. I hope it's not one of those, they're actually the most BORING ride experience I've ever had. So dull.

If that's what they're getting, then I don't think it's bad as a quick filler attraction to be honest. I don't think any other UK park has one, do they?

^ Nah, not that I know of.

I agree, these rides are always really popular at parks. I haven't done one of these, but I quite like Star Flyers.

I think it would suite FL. We can't expect them to get creds every year...

Bring on next tuesday! I'm definintly looking forward to getting back there now. Still think it's going to be weird without corkscrew.

...I'm a total berk and I've posted in the wrong topic.
Ignore me...

Jerry - I noticed that just as you were posting, and THEN you hit send and it wouldn't let me delete it :p

^Isn't that a reply to the Alton Towers forced to close topic? Do you want it moved because it doesn't seem to have anything to do with Flamingo Land?

Pretty sweet. Glad we're getting one in the UK.

Even if it is boring like Lofty's saying, at least is something different. Not a bad height either for one in our country.

Yeah I agree with others, suits Flamingoland and it's a great filler attraction, not something you can find elsewhere in the UK, and 150ft is impressive.

Thing is, it's a tiny ride in terms of ground space... And both those sites are coaster-sized. So I hope they don't take the mistake of placing it where it takes up room they could put a few flats together, or even a coaster, including interesting landscaping and theming had they planned better? In other words, I hope this is as well thought out and isn't just plonked there. I think the plane coaster thing was a bit plonked, and lacked the thematic considerations shown with rides before it. I would have thought this thing will be themed as part of that airport theme? I just... Why did they go with that? They could have gone with some explorer plane jungle flying over the Amazon or something style theme, but no.

Flamingoland had a spurt of activity, where they (in my opinion) became the most promising park after Thorpe in the UK, but it's died down now. I'm hoping that isn't due to them not making back enough to warrant the spend of what they put in? I don't know much about Flamingoland to be honest, and I'm not that much of a fan of the place, but I think it has real potential to become something awesome and the management seemed to know what they were doing, enthusiastically adding both practical and impressive attractions.

Just noticed over @ RideGuideGroup that Jordan1232 has discovered what appears to be a work in progress new website for Flamingo Land.

Looking through the new website they also have a new ride name of "Pterodactyl" in Extreme Rides which surely points to the Star Flyer. I'm hoping they put some effort into the area to warrant it being given a Jurassic name...

Pterodactyl confirmed, complete with logo

It's great that the U.k is getting a tall ride, even if it may be a crappy one, I hope the park does a good job on this rides theming and keeps it up with the parks recent efforts.
