Finger print entry for Six Flags

Not exactly news that will set the world alight, but rolling out this year and fully implemented by 2015, Six Flags season pass holders will enter the park by scanning their right index finger.

It's hoped this will improve the speed of entry to the park and eliminate pass misuse.

The move comes after a successful test of the biometric scan system at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio and Six Flags Great America in Chicago last summer.

Guests will still need to carry and scan a barcode card that marries up with the registered finger print.

Disney have been using biometric technology for entry since 2005. With Six Flags taking this on, no doubt it'll soon become the norm.

I hope the fringerprint scanner is better than the one on the iPhone 5S!

It's strange they are doing this and Disney are dumping it.

They will find in the summer when your hot it won't work, they will also find in the winter when your hands are cold it won't work.

Also the lockers at ioa and universal that use this keep failing as well in direct sunlight.

^ The technology has probably improved significantly since 2005.

I understand how this could help eliminate misuse, but wouldn't adding a step to the entry process slow the speed of entry?

Yes agree there but even in the new parks and new systems it still went wrong and just caused queues and kids did not understand what to do.

It's not to speed up queues it's just to stop you giving your pass to someone else. Yes being negative about it but if they really wanted to speed things up they would just use touch technology like other places are moving to :)

Hope it works out! I know that one of my local parks BGW has them as well, and they seem to work fine. They just take a minute to register, and every once in a while it doesn't work, which can get annoying.

Disney didn't dump it. In fact, even with the Magic-band you still uses the biometric (they just don't have a physical turnstile anymore). Disney's are at least faster than the Busch/SeaWorld ones that take forever.

From what's been said it's going it will all be on the band and linked to a ticket.

If I've read that wrong then I'm wrong.

I always did wonder how they would make sure people did not give someone else their bands with a year pass lol.

Normally they work fine but when it was cold they were just useless.

Yeah, all your fast passes/tickets/money/room key are on the band. You walk up to the scanner and scan your magic band, once it changes colors the biometric scanner lights up, you scan your finger and when it turns green you enter the park. For myself, I have to scan my cast ID first and still do the finger scan (under the old system, I didn't have to use the biometrics myself, it could be deactivated)

I guess then many sites have got it wrong when they said the scanners were going.

Well let's hope Six Flags get their system to work in all types of weather and when the sun is shinning :)
