Another cool photo from Cedar Point, which would have been taken between 1972 and 1976. This photo was most likely taken from the Sky Ride, looking towards the present location of Gatekeeper and Wicked Twister Midway.
In this photo, you will see the Space Spiral observation tower, Jumbo Jets coaster (1972 to 1976), and facade of the Phasination indoor arcade (present day Johnny Rockets) - the first building to receive air conditioning at Cedar Point. You can also see the Matterhorn flat ride attraction, which I admittedly didn't know was ever located in this part of the park, and always believed it existed at it's current location at the end of the Main Midway, next to the north station of the Sky Ride.
This vantage point has definitely evolved over time, with the Jumbo Jet plot having served as home to four roller coasters over its lifetime.
It is a little known fact that the WildCat (1979 to 2011) opened at Cedar Point on the vacated plot of the Jumbo Jets. This was the second Wildcat for Cedar Point - an early Schwarzkopf 65m Wildcat model opened at the park in 1970, and was relocated to Valleyfair! in 1978. That same coaster still operates at Jolly Roger Amusement Park in Maryland:

Here is even a video of the WildCat in action from 1980. (jump to 3:30)

WildCat was later relocated in 1985 to make room for Avalanche Run, which subsequently was indoor-ed and converted to Disaster Transport. Kid Arthur's Court, a children play area and large jungle gym, and indoor Aquarium were also added along the years.
As we moved into the 2000s, a number of new attractions moved into the area:
-2000: Giant Wheel relocated to make room for MF
- 2002: Wicked Twister opens on former Aquarium/Kid Arthur's Court plot
- 2003: Chaos and Troika attractions relocated to make room for TTD
- 2005: maXair opens
- 2013: Gatekeeper opens
- 2015: Bumper Cars relocated (not pictured below)
While a less-busy part of the park, this area has had a busy past, and among the largest turnover rates of roller coasters in the park's history.
