Euro Attractions Show - London (27th - 29th September 2011)

It was in Italy last year and I worked out how many Euro it was and then done the sums. That is also the discounted rate for members!

I have received an email from IAAPA and can confirm the following:

- The show is open to trade visitors, but enthusiasts are welcome. The focus is on the business side of the industry.

- To get access to the show, you will need to register. Like last years construction tour of Rainbow Magicland, there is likely to be special events during the summer for those who have registered.

- The pricing has yet to be finalised. Last year it cost €60 for the three days.

- B&M have not been at EAS for the last three years.

- Registration will open in the summer.

CF will have coverage.

More details as I get them.

I'm assuming that as long as you are a registered company, you can get in for free. I always get in free to the simulation / arcade expeditions and the likes of Zamperla are there, so I'll do some digging and find out. If is is the case that I can get in for free off the back of our old amusement park company / current company, then I'll be happy to add some people to the freeness.

But for now, I'll do some digging.

I'm sorry to dissapoint you but even if you are a registered company, you will not get in for free. At least as long as your company doesnt have it's own booth at the show.

Darn. I found that its usually the case that theme park / amusement park owners get free access to these things, at least thats what I've experienced in the past. Are there any packages or is it just simply, pay-per-ticket?

As mentioned, work is still underway for the pricing but we might offer a package for entrance to the show plus one of the special events. But more about this at a later moment.

Yeah you'd think they would considering the amount of money potential customers could be spending.

^True, but none of that money is going to the venue that's hosting the thing. The "customers" will spend directly with the manufacturers; the space for the event has to be paid for as well.

Its funny because I remember, Chessington used to get 5 free tickets to the IAAPA in America. I was offered a ticket to go, but I couldn't afford the flights.

I really hope I can get tickets for this, I hear it's a good way to start and get yourself into the industry. I was thinking about going last year but gave up on it in the end. With all going to plan this will be just before I got to university, so I would be able to go hopefully.

Thanks, Jakob!

I'm very much looking forward to going. In particular, the seminar on the study on the impact of fan-communities interests me the most.

Awooga! Awooga!!!

Nah, in all seriousness, it does sound like an awesome opportunity. I wonder if you'll be able to get as many free pens as at other types of trade show? Or a folder of half importance?

I go to these things all the time for a living (but mining industry-related). To be honest, I would wonder just how much would be of interest for 'enthusiasts' like us. Still, some of the talks might be work going to, and if there's free booze... They normally have a range of prices from a ticket for just the exhibits, to more expensive tickets including site visits.

I went to a beer trade show once. Pretended to be from the Maltese Cat (the pub at the end of my mate's road that had gone under) - worked a treat.

I'm very interested in the seminar on the usefulness of fansites such as CF.

This one sounds rather interesting, too.

Nick Varney, CEO of Merlin Entertainments Group, will be the keynote speaker at the first –ever Euro Attractions Show Leadership Breakfast on Tuesday, 27 September 2011. Industry leaders and EAS attendees are invited to participate in this unique networking event, prior to the opening of the leading European conference and trade show for the attractions industry.

“Nick is creative and very passionate about the attractions industry,“ said Mats Wedin, Chairman of the IAAPA European Advisory Committee. “Since EAS is in London this year, Nick is a perfect leader to kick off the event and share insights into the attractions industry.”

Varney founded Merlin 12 years ago and since then, the company has grown into one of the largest entertainment companies in the world with more than 80 attractions on four continents. The company has a variety of facilities within its portfolio, including The EDF Energy London Eye, LEGOLAND®, Madame Tussauds, and the Sea Life Centres and entertains more than 30 million guests annually.

Varney will talk about the history of Merlin Entertainments Group and discuss the brands and the positioning strategy the company has used, and will continue to employ, to develop and grow its business. In addition, Varney will discuss the benefits of consolidation within the industry.

The Leadership Breakfast takes place on Tuesday, 27 September, from from 9.30 am to 10.45 am at the Olympia Exhibition Center in London. Space is limited. The cost is 40£ for IAAPA members and 55£ for nonmembers (both prices exclusive of VAT). Individual tickets and tables are available. Euro Attractions Show registration is also required. Registration information for the Leadership Breakfast is available at http://www.IAAPA.org/EAS. Information regarding the complete seminar programme, hotels, and travel arrangements are also available on the site.

Monday tour of London attractions, Thursday tour of legoland? I wonder if this is a visit or an actual tour of some sort.

Is there any more info on if there are any tickets to be won on CF?
