Weirdly, no B&M...

Seems odd that there is no B&M, maybe they'll confirm later in the year?

Glad to see one of these trade shows finally coming to London. May try and get tickets if I'm in the country that weekend.

I'll most likely be there.

Unless my memory's being a bit fail, isn't Olympia a bit...small for this sort of event? Especially with so many manufacturers attending...

Olympia is huge they used to hold the car show there.

If I can get tickets I would love to go :)

Why does this have to be mid-week?

I don't think I would be able to go regardless of what happens to my Industrial Placement plan for this year... Disappoint :(

How on earth do you get tickets to these things? I always assume you get invited.

Looks like a great show!

I am going to try my hardest to get a ticket for this and try and get there. I have leverage and a way in. I just need to find out exactly how to get the goddam things!

I've emailed Dad to ask if he'll keep an eye out at work to see if they get offered tickets and have any spares. It's the sort of thing they'd be invited to, but wouldn't bother with. I'll see what he says.

Ian... Wouldn't CF be entitled to apply for some tickets and send a delegation of members? Don't know, but would prob be worth looking into.

Sounds great! I'm assuming that it's late September? *makes enquiries*

This is exciting! I'd like to go too...

I know of someone who works for the company that redid Hydro's restraints, so I'll mention it to him to see if they get offered tickets.

I'll bring it up during my internship too.

Oh what, midweek in September? Bastards.

Mind you, does seem more 'business-based' then 'fan-based' but still, would love to have gone.

But if I manage to get a teaching post starting in September, no chance.

Surely anyone can go to this?
I'm not sure.

Most exhibitions are ID badge entry only. A few years ago, there was a computer game one at Earls Court which big john invited me to. He set up a fake company and scored entry tickets...it was great fun!

If it is badge entry only and I can get myself in and a few extra tickets, I'll run a competition to win one.

What do the companies actually do at these shows. Do they talk possible clients into purchasing from them or have rides and parts for a company to sample? How does it work?

^ They just show off their lastest products to potential customers.

No doubt there will be lots of big wigs there from pretty much every park in the Country, and beyond.

Something like this could be a real eye opener for our smaller parks.

^I think it's literally for them to show off their new stuff. It's just like the car shows and technology shows (and lots of others), except for amusement/attractions companies.

For exhibitors, it’s a combination of discussing potential installations and current projects with clients. They also showcase some of their latest innovations to attract new customers. But mostly it’s a meeting place for the amusement industry.

The Euro Attractions Show is produced by the European division of IAAPA and most definitely closed to the general public. You’d have to be a member of IAAPA to attend or be classed as media (which Coaster Force could potentially be). Besides, free samples of food products and seeing the latest innovations (which may not even be new), is really as good as it gets.

Didn't HUSS go under a couple of years back?

They went into the German version of receivership. Unlike the UK where it spells the end of your company, German receivers come in to help your company keep going (it's the same in the US).

They negotiated with Huss' creditors and checked out the order books and got the cash flowing again, saving the company.

As for getting tickets:
EAS Who should attend page said:
Theme and amusement parks, water parks, zoos, aquariums, family entertainment centres, museums, carnivals, attractions, shopping centres, casinos, resorts, arcades, golf, concert facilities; whoever you would like to contact in the attractions and leisure industry, you will find them at EAS. EAS 2011 is the premier meeting place for the attractions and leisure industry.

Almost 10,000 visitors from 100 countries attend, making it the best way to reach the industry and secure future growth. Register in advance and benefit from reduced registration fees making your visit more affordable, getting your badge faster and easier and preparing yourself to move your facility into the next season successfully.

Doesn't look free, though I often get invited to these things and the reduced prices are free
