For those of you who don't know, which will be most of you ignorant tools, Sky Fantasia is a "park" on the top floor of a shopping mall here in Hong Kong. There's just one coaster there, a custom Zamperla Dragon thing.
RCDB has had the ride listed as SBNO for years, so I hadn't bothered to take a look before now. I wasn't even sure where the Dragon Centre (the shopping mall) even was, but after checking, I found out it's only four stations away from me, and was an easy detour after work today.
I didn't take any pictures of the outside of the mall. It's really nothing special anyway. It's in a bit of a dumpy area and really isn't very impressive to look at.
Sky Fantasia is on the top floor of the mall, and mostly consists of arcade machines.
There's a small ice rink as well, which I thought I'd taken a picture of, but clearly haven't.
Sky Train, the powered coaster, hangs right over the main atrium of the mall.
Yeah, it's still closed.
The furniture shop next door is using the queue line as a dumping ground.
Still, it looks quite impressive and very intimidating for what is, essentially, a powered kiddy coaster.
So yeah, it's been SBNO since at least 2005, meaning that it operated for 2-3 years maximum. That's assuming it ever actually operated at all.
My guess is that it's never opening again, but that it would be too difficult, costly and time-consuming to remove it. Plus, I'm guessing it would affect the businesses that have shops there, who would no doubt kick up a stink if they lost customers while it was getting ripped out.
The view from the ground floor.
I had McDonald's for lunch on the way out, of which there are no pictures.
And thus concludes another awesome trip report.
