Djurs Sommerland appear to be opening a new attraction for next year. Interestingly, this attraction was planned for 2022, but they've bought it forward. Nice to hear in a time where most things are being delayed / cancelled.

EDIT: Nope, I'm an idiot - Djurs are opening a new attraction in 2022 instead of 2021.

No clue what it could be (unless I've missed something), but the post says it will be "big and amazing"...

Hopefully a coaster with inversions, it's something the park really needs. Maybe a smaller/medium-sized Blitz, similar to iSpeed? That's what I'd like to see, at least.

Out of interest where is this sign in the park? Cause originally, Jungle Safari was closing after nearly 30 years of operation and that was to be replaced in 2021. So I was confused when I saw it was 2022 aha

Anyway, this is exciting! Denmark sure has a ton of coasters, but they tend to be on the smaller side. Piraten is still the largest coaster in Denmark, and it barely breaks the 30 m height barrier. Denmark also has no coasters going faster than 90 km/h, none with more than three inversions, or a length of more than 1 km. Hopefully, this next one might break the mold and bring a truly big coaster to the country.

...or they'll make the world's biggest family coaster of its type again. Not quite ruling out that possibility either.

Thanks for confirming the site location. I thought that with Jungle Safari closed then I'd put 2 and 2 together so I had an idea it would be there

Out of interest, are there any leading rumors among Danish coasterfans for this replacement? I'm still unsure of what to expect; without any evidence, I think this replacement could be a coaster, but a dark ride instead wouldn't be out of the question in my opinion.

There aren't any specific rumors yet, but when the park announced the demise of Jungle Safari, they also made a point of saying that it would be replaced by something "much better and for the whole family". - This has lead me to believe that we might see something like Avalon at Toverland, where you have a boat ride for the whole family (replacing Jungle Safari) and a big thrill coaster integrated into a whole new themed area (in this case something related to Dinosaurs).

It's also worth mentioning that it looks like they've teared down the old kiddie area of their water park, which makes the construction site for this even bigger.

I think that using the template of Avalon, a prehistoric area with a family boat ride (fills the void left by Jungle Safari) and a thrilling inverting rollercoaster (an upside down coaster is what they are missing), would fill the investment perfectly. I said in my vid that I personally think an Intamin/Mack Multi Launch or a Vekoma Coaster (Shockwave or Bermuda Blitz) would be great, but the best thing would be that the boat ride plays out a story about the area and the coaster represents the dark side of the story so there is a contrast in themes that merge together perfectly. With the right level of theming (Lost Kingdom at Paultons Park), this could be incredible. Especially with the increase in site area with the demolition of the kids area in the water park. But it will be worth the wait and I would be very surprised if this ends up a B&M... But I'll be disappointed if it is another Free Spin Coaster ?

I find it really interesting that as nerds we tend to point out we just like a good ride - we don't need x amount of loops, x amount of ft. tall, or x amount of inversions. But when we don't have those things, we want them.

It is true though. Parks like Djurs would have a really full line up if they had a nice woodie and something that throws you about a bit more, and in Scandinavia which seems like a place where the USPs aren't as fought for as they are in America, or Western Europe, or the UK, (he says completely forgetting the powerpark/linnanmaki competition) it leaves a lot of blank canvas to do something really cool, and to be able to sell it really well.

Djurs seems like a lovely park! Can't wait to see what they have in store.

Honestly djurs is such a lovely park and I couldn't really fault it (the major issue is the awful public transport links to get there from Arhus- one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to).

That being said, they are predominately a family park, and their line up consists of all solid family coasters. The most thrilling ride they have is tigeren, but even that can be enjoyed by younger guests too. Juvelen, Piraten and dragekonen are all brilliant coasters (Juvelen is my personal favourite) and I actually found them all pretty thrilling, but they would still be classed in the "family" category in my eyes.

As said above, if this is a large investment, I would hope to see something like Avalon at Toverland. A good family boat ride/dark ride along with a family-thrill coaster which is a slight step up from the rest of the line up. With djurs target market being family groups, I honestly think its extremely unlikely to get a "thrill-coaster" and I don't think anyone should really expect a tall/multiinversion/record breaking coaster.

Whatever the investment is, I think it will be really well-detailed and themed, as all of djurs attractions are top quality. But I honestly have no ideas of what the new investment could be.

Being delayed from 2021 to 2022 is a shame, but seems that pretty much every investment is going to be delayed with what's going on in the world. Don't think we will be getting much new for next year at any parks, apart from stuff that should have opened this year but have been delayed to now open next year.

Some of my friends visited the park today and took some photos showing the construction site as well as some "footers" already delivered to the site.
Looks very much like Mack to us!

The dinosaur theme is also pretty obvious at this point. - So it seems like we'll get a brand new area (Dinosaurland?) with a new coaster as the headliner.

Oh please don't be a Mack Water Coaster like Nigloland. I'd love an Extreme Spinning Coaster but depends on what is the best fit for the park

They do have a water coaster but knowing theme parks, they could add a Mack Supersplash if they already have a Mack Water Coaster and I technically count both as Mack Water ahaha ?

But I'm hoping for an Extreme Spinning Coaster cause they don't have a spinning coaster and this provides another one for Europe the year after Plopsaland De Panne's coaster opens

My bets are on a family spinner, similar to Storm chaser/Sierra Sidewinder. A thrill coaster wouldn't really be the demographic of djurs sommerland in my opinion. But then again, who knows. I guess a mack mega isn't completely out of the picture, as tigeren was definitely a step up to the thrill category.
