What's new

"Dizz", Maurer Söhne spinner for Bobbejaanland

Looking good, can't wait to ride in a few months!

I love spinners but I wish there were more with a little launch over the lift hill like Tornado at Bakken, that ride is complete madness.

Oh, that looks a bit crappy now...

And one of the Winjas doesn't have an Immelman btw. And the "standard" Wild Mouse design ones don't either.

Tornado is insane! It gave my friend neck paines for the rest of the day and I got several bruises of my own.. I usually don't complain on rides being rough, but this was extreme. Don't know if rough is the right word though since Tornado is really smooth. It's just that the banking is done completely wrong. I don't know what the engineers at intamin smoked when they designed that thing!

They've posted two pics on Facebook to show the arrival of the cars, still in their wrapping though.

So how long until they start testing?

I actually REALLY want to ride this and I have no reason why, although, every tim I read the title, it seems like it says "Jizz" for some reason. I like some of the new elements on this coaster, it differentiates from the other spinners out there!

They're asking for test riders: http://www.facebook.com/bobbejaanland

Of course it's not a case of turning up on the day, you have to work for it.

Upload a video to YouTube explaining why you should be selected, add some special tags to it and they'll pick the best six. The best six entries win a chance to ride it first with three of their mates.

I think it's quite a good way of getting others to do the viral marketing!

Here is a video of the coaster testing, the trains are not spinning yet and tbh the coaster looks really slow but I think they were testing the brakes.

^Haha, ditto!

I can't wait to see it spin round, it looks like it should have lots of spinny based times and that will make me happy. I still think it looks like a nice unique layout.

It seems to enter each MCBR at a decent speed, so I wouldn't be surprised if them brakes were that harsh for the real thing.

Does look relatively fun though.

Safe to say, one of the worst spinners to date at this moment in time!

Hmm, I don't like the way it basically comes to a complete stop on those brake-runs. Why does it also look like they were only running one car at a time? Surely that will make the capacity of this just pointless?

However I think it's still hard to say how good/bad this is from looking at a POV. To be honest if we were to watch a POV of Fury would we think it is as good as we think is after riding? It could also be that the weight distribution in that particular car was too even and didn't cause much spinning.

Wait and see I suppose.

It will probably spin more when its warmed up and been run in.

The setting is nice though right by the lake etc.

Haha, that looks awful.

And yeah, I think Fury looks a BIT better in videos than that tbh... But, there MUST be a reason it stops so much. MUST be.

I'm really hoping all the stopping is down to it still being in some kind of testing; it actually looks decent enough apart from that.

Seriously? That looks terrible. The train loses so much rhythm through the trims, it's diabolical.

There are what? 10-15 Maurer Sohne spinners in the world and this is the best they could come up with? Even the layout is unimaginative.

I can't see any enjoyment being had with those excruciating trims in place.

Can anybody understand Flemish? I'd love to know what those blokes are saying. I can hear disappointment in their tone.

I'm looking forward to reading CF members reviews when they return from their visit. In the meantime, I can happily unsticky this topic and avoid seeing more of it.

Like I mentioned before, even with the harsh brakes, the car still enters each following MCBR at decent speed, which to me would mean that they are supposed to be so harsh.

Didn't I read somewhere that the main reason for Thirteen's trim's is to make the short layout feel a bit longer...?

I found this on screamscape - although it still seems to crawl along the MCBR's, it looks so much better when it spins like that!

Hope you don't mind the edit, but it makes viewing the video easier. - ECG

Even though the MCBRs absolutely kill the pacing of the ride, it does seem like the spinning is good. Hopefully the MCBRs will get 'turned-off' eventually.
