Disneyland Paris to celebrate 20 years

Was that seriously five years ago when they were celebrating their 15th? Jesus!

Hopefully we'll see some great events over the year. They do make a really big effort with their birthdays.

You clearly haven't been to California.

No I saw it at the Hollywood Studios park in Disney World Orlando, just didn't wow me like I thought it would. The big anniversary thing is just a big marketing tool anyway. How many birthday sales do they have at stories :p The big parks do the same thing.

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that! They might just as well be celebrating the fifth anniversary of their fifteenth. :p

A bit off topic, but I saw a poster today that in March next year, DLP are celebrating St Davids day!

IMO, That is taking opportunities to celebrate stuff way to far as DLP have nothing to do with Wales or Wales culture at all.

^ I think they do stuff like that every year to be honest. From what I can remember, when they hold events for days like that, its just entertainment in the Village rather than the parks.

^Oh the hilarity.

The Empire State Building has been known to celebrate St David's Day with the roof lighting - nothing wrong with the occasional bit of cross-culturalism!

Either that or the French are still feeling guilty about that semi-final.

Allllllllllllllllllllllllll the way back on my first ever visit they were celebrating St. Patricks Day...

So, it happens... Woo...

Disneyland Paris celebrates most of the European events/holidays, it's just a tradition of theirs. I suppose they would see it as being selfish if they had massive celebrations for Bastille day (French national holiday, think along the scale of July 4th in America) so they celebrate certain culteral celebrations from all over Europe. Makes sense.

I could have sworn we had a generice DLP updates thread around here? I searched but found nowt!

Anywho, as of Autumn 2012, Space Mountain will be fitted with these badboys:

Such good news! :D

So pleased about this. Rode it a week ago and it was too headbangy to be even slightly fun... It would be amazing without the headbanging I guess. BUT don't touch Rock 'n' Rollercoaster's restraints as that was amazing how it is right now!

Does this ride normally have more lighting effects? There was some red rope lights at the end and a giant UV thing, but nothing else? Just felt a bit lacking... And the music was off. I just assumed they forgot to put them on as they were struggling to get anything going that day, as it was -6/ -8C on park.

That's great news.

Those new Vekoma restraints are great. I rode a Boomerang with them and it was actually a pleasurable experience.

^Yeah, Python at Efteling has them too. I really like them so I'm really glad Paris has decided to get them for Space. Maybe we'll see them added to R'n'R if get good enough feedback from guests.

I reckon it's best not to have spoilers for the new night-time show but I've been browsing and found some great images and notes on a few details. It sounds like it's going to be EPIC, like, some of the effects are just going to be amazing and totally unexpected and magical.

Oh they've also announced that there will be a special 20th anniversary menu at some of the restaurants (the more expensive ones) and they come with an added option of a special viewing area for the show. We're still awaiting more details on that though.

There have been quite a lot of changes happening on main street and a few announcements here and there. For example the main street station is going to be completely covered in gold leaf for the anniversary.

^ Python @ Efteling has the Kumbak trains. From what I've heard, the new Vekoma trains are far more comfortable. Mainly due to the fact that Kumbak are ****.

^O rly? Space is only getting the restraints, not new trains and those restraints look very similar to those on Python.

Well that's what it sounds like anyway. I don't have any issues with the trains themselves, it's just the restraints that make it uncomfortable.

Where does it say just the restraints?

These are actually a LOT wider than the other restraints so I'd have thought new trains would be needed that can cope with the restraints not banging into one another?

Yeah, the Python trains are Kumbak trains, they're disgusting to look at!
