I arrived at the park 45mins before it opened. There was already an orderly queue waiting to get. All but two of the ticket gates were open. Each of the Annual Pass windows were about 10 people deep.

At the entrance, staff were handing out clipboards and Annual Pass forms to reduce time spent at the window. Thorpe Park did try this last week but there weren't enough clipboards and the weather made it a nightmare.

I hung around waiting for Nic. I studied the map and noticed that the same family is replicated several times throughout. Yes, I am a goon.
cwoaapday%20%283%29.jpg

Joey, Scarlet and peep were delayed in traffic so me and Nic wandered around the park for a while. We bumped into Martin the Vampire engineer who gave us the tour at GhosterForce. Apparently another group have booked to do the same thing in June.

We noticed this wooden mushroom garden. According to peep, it was there last year but it was new to me!

Dragons Fury had broken down. A couple of engineers were on the MCBR. It was down for about 20mins.
cwoaapday%20%285%29.jpg

We walked through to "Tranny" (Transylvania) to see what the queues for Vampire and The Booblevorks, or Michael Bubleworks, were like. On the way, Nic pointed out the gravestones which refer to past rides/characters at the park. Again, these were there last year, but were new to me!

At this point, about 10:40, Vampire had a 70min queue, the line was at capacity. Urgh. We walked on by towards the Bubbleworks. The Bubbleworks queue was also maxed out. Although, excitingly enough, they have repainted the fence outside!

Joey, Scarlet and peep arrived (was great to see Scarlet after several years!) and we did Hocus Pocus Hall ('Ocus Pocus 'All) as it didn't have a queue. Hurrah!

It's been a few years since I've been through HPH. I felt sick walking through the revolving tunnel. It's pretty good, but I wouldn't queue more than 10 mins for it. The mirror maze is a tad lame because there's a guidance strip on the floor. Although the ride is aimed at kids so I guess that's acceptable.

With big queues everywhere, we opted for the zoo. Joey and Nic got horny...

We walked towards Rattlesnake and Runaway Train, which had 60mins and 50min queues respectively. Again, we weighed up our options and decided to head towards Tomb Blaster. We noticed on the way that Rameses Revenge wasn't working. I don't think it worked all day.

Tomb Blaster's queue was about an hour so we moved on towards Mystic East. Finally we found a ride with a short (20min) queue - Dragon Falls.

New sponsorship signs are dotted throughout the ride.
cwoaapday%20%2826%29.jpg

We carried on through Wild Asia. Kobra had a 70min queue, Monkey Swinger and the Tuk Tuk Dodgems were also busy so went to annoy the tree - which wasn't talking today :( The Lorikeet enclosure was also closed. I'm not sure if it was closed all day.

cwoaapday%20%2830%29.jpg

We decided to have lunch...as did half of the people in the park! The queue for the pizza buffet was enormous. It took forever at GhosterForce, so there was no way we were going to wait.
cwoaapday%20%2831%29.jpg

peep suggested that we dine at the hotel.
cwoaapday%20%2832%29.jpg

A very good choice, Mr Cooper! We had rustic bread & humus and BBQ chicken wings for starters. Delicious!
cwoaapday%20%2833%29.jpg

It was roughly £11.50 each for a two course meal and a drink. Perhaps a bit pricey for a theme park meal, but good value seeing a sit was quiet and had no queue! I'd recommend the hotel to anybody, it's pretty awesome.

After lunch, we headed back to "Tranny" to ride Vampire. We did umm and arr about riding it as it had an hour queue, but we all wanted to ride it so we got in line.

The queue passed quickly thanks to peep's Top Trumps. Joey and I fought a bloody battle to the end but he won! We also killed time with "I spy with my goony eye" which involved coaster related stuff. Yes, we're geeks but it was silly. It also developed into "I spy avec mon petit yeux" or some French/English rubbish.

Anyway, they've cleared up the queue line a bit. Here are some thrilling photos of mud.
cwoaapday%20%2835%29.jpg

cwoaapday%20%2837%29.jpg

There was also a roped off area in the middle with small wooden boxes. We guessed this area will house the live rats as part of the 21st Anniversary event.
cwoaapday%20%2836%29.jpg

When we arrived in the station, we noticed new bag holders in the shape of coffins. A nice touch. Here's a photo set your world alight!
cwoaapday%20%2838%29.jpg

The Vampire did break down for about 20 minutes. The staff entertained us by performing an impromptu Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes sing-along, complete with actions. It's always great to see the staff enjoying themselves and not taking themselves too seriously.

Vampire rode as well as it ever has. <3

The exit area has been divided up with a metal barrier to provide a separate queue line for disabled riders.

In the Vampire/Bubbleworks shop, there was some silly putty...
cwoaapday%20%2843%29.jpg

...and hold the front page! The photo desk has been moved!
cwoaapday%20%2844%29.jpg

We then rode the Bubbleworks. The queue was about 15-20mins at this point. The Imperial Leather sponsorship is still plastered over everything, but they were playing the old music in the station! I missed that music! I didn't noticed anything different during the, but peep said there were a couple of changes.

After the Bubbleworks, we headed back to Tomb Blaster. The queue began at the fastrax entrance, which is about 20mins.
cwoaapday%20%2845%29.jpg

I hardly did any shooting, instead I spent my time firing the laser into peep's eyes and taking photos.
cwoaapday%20%2846%29.jpg

cwoaapday%20%2847%29.jpg

With 10mins until closing time (they extended the opening hours due to the high number of people in the park), we headed towards Dragon's Fury. There was a 30-40 minute queue, so we decided that we would ride it next time. We then parted company and went our separate ways.
cwoaapday%20%2848%29.jpg

I feel that CWoA did learn from the "fiasco" at Thorpe Park last weekend. There were plenty of staff assisting people queueing for Annual Passes (the queue to buy one hardly dropped below 20 people deep all day), each of them happily answering questions and managing the queues.

All of the food places were open, although queues were fairly big due to the amount of people in the park.

Extending the day by an extra 90mins was a good move. It certainly allowed us to get a few extra rides in and took the pressure off a little.

The biggest let down is the lack of anything new. Ok, so they have tarted it up here and there, but as an enthusiast, I like to see a new attraction every year. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of things to do, but it's always nice to see a new ride to criticise or compliment!

The park did cope well with the number of people that turned up. Ok, so my ride count wasn't massive but that's why I have an Annual Pass - so I can visit when I want and whore the rides!

I suppose that this year is more of a celebration of the "old" than the new. There were a few posters around the park advertising the Vampire XXI event. My next visit is on 10th April, more about that then...

Repost - [due to Ian wanting to be the first to post]

Probably one of the best AP days Chessington has ever ran. I got on a good few rides and if the signs were led to be believed they prolonged the closing time until half past 5. Well done Chessington! Much better managed than their sister park Thorpe Park.

So now onto the great amount of rides I got onto.

Vampire, everyone ran for this at the start of the day, and it seemed like the main one to get out of the way.
Black bucaneer, and managed to get away with an end row, amazing.
Next dragon's fury was closed, so I headed for Kobra. 70 mins, no f-ing way was that 70 mins. The only ride not worth queuing for. Time for some Tuk Tuk Turmoil, and what turmoil it was, raging around that place like miami vice. Hilarious times were had. Monkey swinger, and wet times were ahead. (Thats what she said!)
Walking back via noodle noodle, dragon's fury was open so on that we went. A long queue, but seemed to be worked the best of all the queues in the park.
Moving across the park, rameses revenge was closed so we headed for the runaway mine train. Again a long queue, not as well worked as DF's queueline, but fast all the same.
Next rattlesnake, which seems to never go as quick as you want queueline wise, and yes, the break run was as painful as ever!
After this, hocus pocus hall and a photo with some oversized meerkats. Fun times had by all and best ride count I can ever remember on an AP day.

I arrived at the park at approx 9:45am after a long crawl up the road from the M25. I went up into the main car park, and ended up parked 3 rows from the back. Bear in mind that the park didn't fully open until 10am, so this was a good indication of how busy it was going to be. By opening the gates and allowing people into the zoo half an hour early, they cut down on some of the carnage out the front. This was a very good move by the park. This coupled with lots of staff, meant that everything outside appeared to be running like clockwork.

I met up with Ian, and we went for a wander in the park. After faffing for a while, we went down to Transylvania where Vampire and Bubble Works already had massive queues. We couldn't be bothered, so went and got a coffee. A few minutes later, and Peep, Joey and Scarlet arrived.

As it had no queue, we did Hocus Pocus Hall. It was fairly meh as per usual. Oh, and for the record, it only scared me when they had live actors in over Halloween!

After that we went for a wander past the birds and monkeys, and into Wanyama. I really like the way they've themed the whole area now, it looks great. It was also good to see their new animals. Ostriches! :D

We decided it was about time we went and actually rode something, so walked round into Mexicana. There were massive queues, so carried on round into Forbidden Kingdom. Rameses was still under maintenance (planned by the looks of it - the entrance was roped off with signs saying it would be unavailable) and Tomb Blaster had a massive queue. We carried on into Mystic East as the boys wanted to ride Dragon Falls. It only had a 20 min queue (if that) so they were on in no time at all.

By then, it was time for lunch. After a vote, we decided a trip to the pizza buffet was in order. When we got there, the queue stretched right across Market Square, so we decided against it. The new “not quite Nando’s” place didn’t look too busy, but none of us fancied it. Therefore, we decided to wander round to the hotel and give the new Zafari restaurant a go. The décor is beautiful. There’s a massive iron work giraffe as you enter the hotel, then a massive plastic one (with amazing eyelashes! Haha) as you enter the restaurant. If you’re going to go here though, be warned, its pricey. Between 12:30pm and 3pm they do a “2 courses for £10” deal, but choice is very limited and you don’t get AP discount. For starters, we decided we’d get 2 portions of bead and humus and 3 portions of sticky wings and share them amongst us. It was beautiful. The main courses were slightly disappointing for the money, but still very nice. All in all, it’s a lovely restaurant with a good atmosphere, and a great way to avoid the crowds – but be prepared to pay for it!

From here we went back into the park, and headed to Transylvania via Trail of the Kings. Vampire was said to have had a 70 minute queue, so we gave in and joined it. I actually don’t think it was that long. Although, perhaps our games of Top Trumps and Goon and French themed Eye-Spy just made it pass quickly! As we reached the station, there was a brief technical fault, but it was fixed quickly, and we got on the ride.

By the time we got off, the queue for Michel Buble Works had gone down, so we decided to check out the “re-theme”. Yeah, its like they got halfway round then gave up. Eugh.

We were starting to run low on time by this point (we had been tipped off earlier in the day that they were extending opening from 4pm to 5:30pm), so rushed over to Tomb Blaster. Somehow, Peep and I got identical scores. He thinks it was a technical fault. I think it’s just because I’m awesome.

With 10 minutes to spare, we went over to Dragon’s Fury. It still had a fair sized queue which was probably going to be at least half an hour. Therefore, Ian and I decided to call it a day.

Despite it being busy, I had a great day. The park were really well organised (they’d apparently got in as many staff as possible today) and had clearly thought things through following feedback from Thorpe last week. Any breakdowns were dealt with very swiftly (including a stall/rollback/valley/whatever on Dragon’s Fury in the morning, which was fixed in record time). Overall, Chessington get a big thumbs up from me, and I look forward to many more visits over the coming season.

PS. Whoever is manning Chessie's FB tonight (Frank Lampard?) is doing a great job. They've replied to pretty much every comment individually, and made a few general announcements. Good work, keep it up :)

Had a lovely day at Chessie today, which made me forget all the horrors of last weekend. I'm completely exhausted now though, so will leave reviewing till tomorrow (looking after children is way too much hard work!)
Sorry I didn't get to see you guys much in the end, hope you all had a great day. It was lovely to meet Scarlet! Suzie got her first cred. and fell in love with Vampire - so all in all, it was fab :D

ohh and lol to Joey and Vadge getting horny!

Hahaha, Suzi-Mae is fab "I'm named after 2 people. The first is Suzi after Suzi Quatro. The second, Mae, is after Mae West" <3

I had such a great day on Sunday so mega thanks to Ian, Joey, Nic and Scarlet for all the laughs throughout the day. The weather was nice and our relaxed attitude to getting on rides made it a highly enjoyable day out.

Bad things:

- Stupidly long queue of traffic from the motorway to the park, took us ages to get to the car park...

When we got there it was so busy already...
196457_10150429187085360_529160359_17545144_6262722_n.jpg

- Small amount of riding due to excessive queues throughout the day
- Not seeing any of the characters
- Getting semi-lost on the way back :p

Good things:

- I spy with my gooney eye in the Vampire queue, that was rather amusing.
- Merlin Top Trumps, highly entertaining despite being out rather quickly. I don't know if the others noticed but the family behind were loving the game too lol
- More baby announcements around the zoo including the ridiculously cute Fennec Foxes
- Gazelle have been given a larger enclosure
- OSTRICHES!!!!!!!!! I loved watching them run around :p
- Lots of random changes in the park including the addition of a cool shop at the exit of Ramses Revenge
- Staff in the Vampire station breaking out into random song and dance while the ride was fixed
- Food at the hotel <3
- Managers still recognising us and coming over to say hi
